Whitetail Deer in Weehawken, New Jersey (Quick Video) Darias News 2023-02-21 | It's not unusual to see deer in New Jersey. Spotting a Whitetail living on the cliffs of Weehawken, however, is rare. In fact, I have been walking and exercising in the that area for decades. I have never seen or heard of deer living in the area or passing through.I was exercising on Sunday, February 19 using the stairs to Port Imperial Station when a man pointed out the young mammal about halfway down the steep hill, not far from the Dueling Grounds. He told me he first saw the deer two months ago. I came back later and recorded the video. I am no hunter so merely stepping on a dry crunchy leaf altered the deer to my presence. My cover was immediately blown. According to various online sites, deer are herbivores. They apparently can survive in a winter jungle oasis surrounded by the asphalt of the sardine can known as Hudson County. Good going, Bambi. And see below for a review is the Sennheiser MKE 200 mic.These interviews were recorded on an iPhone 8 Plus. I used the Sennheiser MKE 200 for the first time. As you can see and hear, during interviews there was lots for snow, sleet, wind and noise from plows. Under the circumstances, I thought the mic did a good job of allowing me to maintain social distance while capturing sound bites. On the negative side, the MKE 200 quickly drained my phone’s battery. ADDENDUM: I should add that the temperature was in the 20s F when I was recording, which likely has a significant impact on battery drain. I was using a JOBY GripTight PRO TelePod for handheld shooting with my iPhone. It did what it’s supposed to do. I bought it for exactly this type is scenario where I don’t want to use my main camera and destroy it in bad weather. It also let’s me stay nimble and mobile. I think I might use it for city recording. People now accept that a legitimate reporter might use a phone instead of an ENG camera. I might also use the JOBY with a tripod, depending on the situation. FOR THE RECORD: I bought the 200 and the JOBY at B&H. I have no relationship whatsoever with either company.

Responding officers found the victim, a 26-year-old Willingboro, N.J. man, later identified as Marquise Davis, with apparent gunshot wound(s) to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at 10:52 p.m. at the scene of the shooting. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
