How do you know it’s time to outsource your public relations?
As a small business owner or entrepreneur, you’re probably used to wearing all the hats in your business. So, how can you tell it’s time for you to take off that Public Relations hat and bring in a professional publicist?
Here are some signs that you need to hire a professional to manage your PR.
#1: You’re so busy working in (or on) your business that you don’t have time to write press releases. Even though many have declared that the trusty news release is dead, it’s still the primary format for communicating your news with journalists and editors. If you’re not writing press releases, you’re not making it easy for the media to write news stories about you. (In fact, you’re making it a lot harder.)
#2: Even if you find time to write good press releases, you seem to always send them out days (or weeks) after your “news” has gone stale. That’s understandable. As an entrepreneur, you have a lot of irons in the fire. When do you have time to create a media list? Or deal with bounce-backs and unsubscribes and all the other hassles that come with maintaining a good list? Be honest, you don’t—or you’d be doing it already.
#3: You’re not entirely sure what’s newsworthy and what isn’t. If you just discovered a cure for cancer, of course that’s newsworthy! You’ve just saved millions of lives around the world! But what if your “news” isn’t as earth-shattering? A freelance PR consultant can help identify stories that may appeal to the media—and she can help you “spin” that story, or find an angle that is newsworthy. Even if the subject seems “old hat” to you.
#4: You don’t think you’ve done anything newsworthy lately, but you still need to get some exposure in the press, on TV or on the radio. If your best customers think you’ve gone out of business because your competition gets all the media attention, it may be time to hire a PR expert to represent you. She can help you create a PR calendar with story ideas—legitimately newsworthy reasons to send out a press release on a regular basis. (A really good PR person can even help you create news out of thin air.)

“Javosize is the first Java diagnostic and repair solution that monitors literally 100% of code without instrumentation or profiling API,” says Michael Carducci, the company's Chief Magical Officer. “This totally new paradigm allows developers to modify and patch Java classes in real time, without restarting. With Javosize, any Java developer can make slow execution methods and bottlenecks disappear quickly and easily,” says Carducci, “for far less than the cost of a traditional APM.” Carducci, a professional magician and mentalist, is also a public speaker and technology expert who lectures at Java training conferences across the U.S.
Carducci adds, “Fast, automated troubleshooting and on-the-fly repair is the Holy Grail of Java development.” Java is everywhere—from social networks to online banking portals to Android devices, and the platform is growing, year after year. “The potential for cost and time savings are enormous,” Carducci continues.
Technology startup Javosize http://www.javosize.com was launched in Florida by an international team of Java developers who were frustrated by how time-consuming and difficult it is to troubleshoot and repair Java code. The company officially launches its Javosize Application Performance Management platform in October 2015. Over 1,700 end users have downloaded the company's free Java agent since its soft launch in June of 2015.
