Earthbound Halloween Hack (By Toby Fox) - Part 13/Finale! Final Boss and ending! Qaladan 2015-12-20 | Welp, we finally made it. Here's how most people found this hack in the first place. They played Undertale, liked Megalovania, did a search for it.. and found that it was put into Homestuck (S: Wake) 4 years before Undertale. THEN they found out it was actually just end boss music from an Earthbound hack 2 years before that!The hack got a lot of appreciation back when it came out and for the most part, I 100% agree with the good things being said of it. It's tough, but it's also fair if you learn the rules. The graphics and added sprites are cool, the new music is awesome...the writing... well..The writing is good for the most part except for a couple cringey lines. You have to think, though, Toby Fox was 15 when he made this. Also, 2009 was a lot less politically correct than the world of 2015. The tl;dr eat shit faggots is the most obvious of the lines that seems UGH by today's standards. I dunno, I just can't get too mad at it and overreact like a lot of the comments I see about this fight. It was a teenager doing his best to write for an insane/angry/repressed homosexual old man who killed his son AND his son's friends and drove his wife away AND THEN let lose a bunch of monsters upon humanity. Props for that, when I was 15 I was just writing bad DBZ fanfiction. So whatever. Let's just focus on the awesome music, okay? The ending made me laugh. It's such a drastic swing in the other direction from where the game was going that I couldn't help but smile. All in all, if you actually know how difficult it is to hack Earthbound without it falling apart, let alone add this much dialogue and new areas/music/sprites... you'd appreciate it more. The game is interesting and if you'd like a new Earthbound experience, this isn't bad. There are tons of feel good hacks out there, but this is the only one I've seen that subverts expectations by starting out light hearted and then going completely nuts. Bravo.As for the fight itself... the ID does nothing. It's a direct lift from SaGa 3/Final Fantasy Legend 3. To skip a bunch of info, an old man has the final boss inside of him and he wants you to kill him to also slay the final boss. It had sad music and he just talked as you swung your sword at him. The music even feels like a slowed down/manipulated version but I'm not positive.Form 1 Andonuts: Timestop and Psycho Pspirit. Beat the crap out of him until he talks about burning you.Form 2: Everyone equip a fire pendent. Varik should already have the Sol Armor, so he'll be fine. Heal as needed and use freeze. After a bit, he'll say stuff about the freezing cold.Form 3: Have everyone equip their H20 pendants, use fire, heal as needed, blah blah. Eventually he says that he's gonna use a psychic attack.Form 4: Use another Psycho Pspirit and feel free to heal/restore PP. You can also use Magnet if you want, it's all good. After using PSI Bitchkill Omega, you move on to the final form.FINALLLL FORMUUUU: Have Varik attack or heal, Paula and Poo Freeze, and Jeff heal or attack. It can get dicey, but this is it... so use all the pizzas and horns of life you want. I wouldn't even bother healing the poison since it's so close to the end. YOU CAN DO IT I BELIEVE IN YOU!Thanks for watching, everyone!

Earthbound Halloween Hack (By Toby Fox) - Part 12 Qaladan 2015-12-19 | Well, that was embarrassing. I didn't notice Poo earned enough to use Cleanse Omega so I flub a couple revives. Oh well.The reason I was playing it super safe is that Toby Fox makes it seem like the Amalgamate's are world enders... but all you really need to do is keep using freeze and keep eating Cocoon Pizza's as needed. I'd accuse myself of being over leveled, but Poo just got his final spell last video so it's not that anymore. I think it's like I said before, the game just becomes way easier when you actually have the tools to deal with encounters in the way you're supposed to. I do like the puzzle aspect of the enemies, you don't see that too often beyond FIRE GUY IS WEAK AGAINST WATER. Then again, the whole sparing aspect of Undertale was a puzzle in itself, so maybe this is where he got the inspiration for it?

The enemies in Onett (except for Remember Me?'s) aren't real enemies.. they just come at you and can trap you against certain objects and doors. One time though I just got stuck in the middle of the road because the enemy sprite was so big I was just trapped inside it.As Toby Fox says in his walkthrough... "since you saved it's not a huge issue but if you're dumb, the enemies can trap you inside house doors forever. so don't do that"
Earthbound Halloween Hack (By Toby Fox) - Part 4/Bad Ending Qaladan 2015-12-11 | I think I showcase the only time I got wiped out in this playthrough. That I recorded, anyway. I died like 100+ times while I was grinding off camera. That brings me to my next point: Toby Fox says in the walkthrough that he made with the game to abuse save states and get lucky because he doesn't like to grind. I DO like to grind, but it made the final boss laughably easy even though only Varik was the only one above 15. So I guess what I'm saying is... you're playing a hack of a difficult game that you can pretty much only play on a ROM. Abuse the hell out of it, if you'd like! If anything, the less grinding you do, the more cohesive the story is. A lot of that idea goes into the world of Undertale, but that's another place and another time.
Earthbound Halloween Hack (By Toby Fox) - Part 3 Qaladan 2015-12-10 | Actual progress! We make our way through the Twoson sewers.I do all the grinding off screen, which I would HIGHLY suggest doing. You are weak and pathetic for 95% of the game and even moreso when you're alone. The battles are usually moreso along the lines of puzzles, but if you don't have enough PP to "solve" them every time, you'll just get bodied. Gotta have some muscle to back up that brain. It's pretty common to get crappy level up bonuses, though.. so sometimes it just pays to be lucky to get through this thing.
