Have you been stuck on that big topic, wondering what to do to find your art style, what all goes into developing an art style, not knowing if you've found yours? Or even where to start? Do you struggle with thinking you need to actively develop a style, or that it should come naturally, but it just isn't happening for you? Are you still copying other artists for practice, but stuck in art block as soon as you try to come up with a style and concept of your own? Uff, it can feel frustrating and confusing, for sure.
On the 15th episode of art business podcast "Harmony & Friends", Terry Runyan, Nina Cvijovic and Lauren Lesley share their personal path to finding their current style, and their insights into how you can get there, too.

Four artists wanted to know how to grow on social media as an artist, and to run an experiment themselves, rather than relying on social media marketing expert theory. Our experiment ends June 30. Tune into episode 14 of art business podcast "Harmony & Friends" on July 1 to hear us discuss this question: Is a 30 day social media challenge worth it?
Studio Amelie Persson (live), Jillian Nichole (live), Harmony Hardin (live) & Lisa Chicken (recorded) share what their individual experiment looked like, what happened as a result, and if they would repeat the whole thing or it was a giant waste of time. Please join us for the livestream, and come ready to share in the conversation with your questions & experience in the live chat. Bring a friend or two, too!
Subscribe for additional helpful and happy conversations featuring artists sharing their own experience and business tips for artists to help you build multiple, strong income streams from your art... so you can finally make a living with your art!

If you have swatches in the shape of flowers and leaves, it is SO EASY and SO INTUITIVE to pick a color palette for your paintings!
I never knew how to pick a color palette and was overwhelmed by color charts and the color wheel. As a result, I ended up with ruined paintings and then got stuck in the habit of using the same colors that worked over and over again.
Enter: swatching watercolor paints, but make it fun and interactive! I came up with this little idea, and honestly, it changed how I use color. I can see possibilities and harmonies now, intuitively. I no longer dread picking colors.
I hope this hack does the same for you! I have a full 7 minute video on how I did this, if you are curious. It’s in my channel ❤️.

This was a Friday, which is an important bit of info because I work my hospital job four days a week, but Friday is not one of them. So that means more family time and more art business time! 💗🎨
Little one woke me up at 5:15 today. So I got an early but groggy start, leaving us ready to conquer the day at 9!
Today on the family side we: grocery shopped, cooked lunch, pre-cooked dinner and tomorrow’s lunch in the rice cooker and slow cooker, had a solid nap and walk in the park, had outdoor time thoroughly enjoying spraying each other with the garden hose, played together, had dinner as a unit.
And on the art business side: watered my future flowers for future paintings, filled out a government form for customs, made this gosh-darn YouTube short that took like an hour to edit 💀, fixed an issue with my packaging manufacturer, did a wee trial of a photoshoot and learned I’ll need to iron the tea towels first, sent some important emails for the podcast, started editing a file that needs to be fixed for printing thank you cards… of course I always think I can achieve more than I do, but I a super pumped about the progress anyway 💪🏼.
What does your perfectly balanced day look like?

Well, in this video, I want to share that perspective with you. I am a watercolor artist and a host of a new livestream artist business chat podcast, and last year I took 30 days to try to grow on TikTok. In this video, I share my results and thoughts with you candidly.
I am also just re-starting the use of TikTok & a general push on social media (TikTok, IG, etc.) in the month of June 2023. In July 2023, three other artists will be joining me on the podcast to discuss our individual approach and results. Want to make sure you catch that conversation? Subscribe to hear that and other art business topics ca. twice per month.

And let me know in the comments what watercolor flower tutorial I should make next!
Using a small bouquet I pulled from the garden for inspiration, the tutorial is real-time, minus the drying time for the paint. You can create this piece in no time, if you like, or slow it down and savour as much as you like. It is a fun watercolor warm-up exercise for beginner and experienced artists alike. This step-by-step tutorial is all about having fun and embracing the life and unpredictable beauty loose watercolor has... so take this video as an inspiration, and give it your own unique twist!

By the way: I only use a single paint brush for this whole piece! It's so fun to have a million brushes and paints, and if your budget allows and it is your dream: go for it! But this video is proof you do not need tons of supplies to make a beautiful piece. I have linked the exact supplies I used below, but in essence all you will need is: a blue and red watercolor (to mix purple), a green watercolor, yellow, and if you like white watercolor too.

When I go out for walks, I try to notice all the little details and learn about what I see. But I also love to play free association games in my mind, to ask myself somewhat ludicrous questions, and to see where this brain exercise can lead me. I also do some very low pressure botanical-inspired (non-scientific) sketching.
Some of my best ideas come during walks, or in a quiet moment afterwards like when I process it all in a relaxing shower. I think the same might happen for you, if you let it :). So in this video I share my process for my artist walks - call them artist dates if you will.
I also show my process for painting my floral wreaths. If you are looking to commission for one of them, please contact me via Instagram DM or email!
Thank you to all those who watch my videos. You are making my dreams come true! I hope my videos help and/or entertain you! If you enjoyed this video, please share it with other artists, art fans, botany lovers, and more! Every like and comment further helps this video to be shown to other souls who might just need this little pick-me-up inspirational video.

Repeated erasing on watercolor paper can cause the surface of the paper to disintegrate in a way that makes it very difficult or impossible to work with. That is why it is better to finalize your sketch elsewhere... But then how do you transfer the drawing to another paper, your watercolor paper? I will show you three of my favorite ways to do so, ranging from low budget to needing a significant investment, and share the pros ➕ and cons ➖ of each method.

Since I am enrolled in the Immersion course by Bonnie Christine, I am learning the technical features of the software and how to create surface pattern designs. But it's not all just theory, in this video I try to make my first pattern with the software! Since all that computer work can get a little much for your eyes (and your soul), though, I also take you on a few little short breaks out into glorious spring sunshine. You'll see views so pretty, they are almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face :).

COME SAY HI!
Instagram: instagram.com/harmony.hardin
Website: harmonyhardin.com
I am an illustrator who shares her journey here on YouTube, IG and on my website. I have been on this path since March of 2019, and I learn more every day. I want to share that with you! I LOVE being creative, and learning. I believe in the growth mindset and that though natural talent can make a difference, so can persistence, practice, and enthusiasm.
