The story describes everyday activities through the interpretation of Hilda. As the best owner in the world, Hilda determines the start of each day, their exercise routine, menu, daily walks and social life. Her pet treats Hilda like a goddess whose bodily fluids must be preserved and whose life’s work is to make Hilda immortal.

Before becoming part of Elise’s life, Hilda spent more than a year and a half in a shelter and moved through several homes. Through this film, Elise imagines the thoughts her dog might have while witnessing all the small acts of care, comfort, and affection that shaped their life together.
Blending humor, tenderness, and expressive character animation, MY FAVOURITE is ultimately about companionship, and how loving another living being can quietly transform who we are.
By embracing simplicity and leaning into her own quirks as an artist, Elise found a visual language that felt honest to both the story and the filmmaking process.
Elise Kruusel is an animator, director, screenwriter, and illustrator based in Tallinn, Estonia. Her work often explores themes of empathy, embarrassment, humor, and social taboos through expressive animation and emotionally grounded storytelling.
Working primarily in traditional 2D animation while also experimenting with 3D and stop-motion techniques, her films are inspired by vintage aesthetics and nuanced characters.
