Orphic Poetry ~ Pseudoclassic Mei and Mais theme

Interpret: ziki_7
Album: 想月綺曲集 ~東方想月綺 Original Soundtrack~ (Disc 3)
Yeah. Yeah. I didn't think this was going to happen, either. But I have some time I'd better spend sleeping right now, and I stumbled upon the old "upload these tracks" playlist, so it fits. Mostly.
I chose to start with this one because I really like it. It is perhaps not the gold standard of Magical Girl's Crusades, but it has a great spin on the basic riffs and chains them together in a very solid way. It also is greatly catchy.
As it's name is Magical (star) Crusaders, it also is a counter-point to the Touhou Project remix rule number one: Anything with a star in its title is to 90% a crappy Love-Colored Master Spark. This is not. Praised be it.
I'm always surprised what those no-name mixers can actually pull up. Diving face-first into the Touhou lossy music collection torrent sometimes pays off x)
I still wanted to share this because of 1. account inactivity and 2. criticism yay! Please criticize the shit out of it. And not the image, that's the first one I found.
Guard your ears, gentlemen. It will probably not be the last piece of my own attempts at music I will upload. Remember, I'll give warning with that little Clockwork Studios tag. Be sure to heed it.
Album: 秋葉文化祭コンピレーションCD Vol.2
I can't even begin to hope to describe this, so I won't. Just listen to it.
But let's get off that depressing topic and to the music. This one will be continuing the ingame versions of Shuusou Gyoku's soundtrack (the low quality at parts is not my fault). I think that after this I'll be tackling the tune that differs most from the midi version, namely, Mechanic Circus Reverie. I'm looking forward to that, the ingame version of it is pretty kickass.
As kickass as the picture. I think I am at the point where my art no longer causes eyesores. (Trivia: This one was planned to be my take on the CO Power screen of Advance Wars fame. VIVIT's got some mad Meteor Strikes.)

Herselves is the most beautiful of them all. I'm not even accepting discussion, it just is. Particularily the original midi version by ZUN, which had a fantastic dynamic and somehow just was perfect in the way it was. I wait for the day a remix can do justice to it. Which this one, sadly, isn't. It tries to be slow and solemn and all, and completely forgets one component of the yin-yang mix of hope and solemnity (is that even a word?) that made the original such a masterpiece.
That being said, if you enjoy slow and solemn pieces, go ahead, be my guest and listen to this one with me. I guarantee you, this piece is anything but bad. However, it lacks the certain crucial something.
The painting... I did in real life and manipulated a bit with software that is made for such a purpose. If you want the original, message me.
I apologize if I was being overly critical. It's just that the bar is set so high by the original that finding a remix that fully satisfies me is a fool's errand.

Hey look, we are at five times Girl's Divinity now. Personal preference? Naaaah. My personal preferences are Heavenly Army, False Strawberry, Velvet Battle and Herselves. But a good arrange is a good arrange, and so I upload. I'll be getting the more popular tunes done first, then Clockworks and Herselves, then Silk Road Alice (maybe, I don't particularily like Silk Road.)
Allow me to indulge in some completely unrelated thoughts - this Vivit, Hisouten expansion. I'm mainly saying this because, no matter the practicality and the issue of having a nude girl in your Touhou fighting game, damn it would look cool. I'm envisioning all sorts of green-binary-effects - teleporting around, materialize wings (notice how I drew them here), apocalyptic spellcard... actually, if you were to ask me which patterns are definitely hers, it would probably be bullet rings and feathers. Yes. Bullet-ring and feather danmaku and stuff. Forgive me for rambling, sometimes I forget Seihou is niche and will never have the appeal of the Touhous.
The intermission is doing it right. It actually does not break the flow, it might be a liitle silly, sure, but hey... I like it. :)
Album: 東方稔華風
CAUTION: Awesomeness warning (also, high pitch warning, covering your ears might be necessary!) Especially for the first two thirds of the song, the last third was probably added so that your ears have time to cool down.
An AWESOME version of Circus Reverie, somewhat close to the Music-CD original (was it Dolls in Pseudo Paradise? memory failing me here), doesn't really impact or anything. Just saying it doesn't have the dynamic of the in game piece.
Visual part = me expermenting with SAI (again)
Album: 幻懐式曲集
My titling/descriptioning system is a goddamn MESS. User unfriendly and all. Need to make complete rework - HIGH PRIORITY. NOTE THAT - And if I have to draw Miss Redhead one more time, I swear... aaaaaaaaarrrrgggggh
Anyway, to the pleasant news of the day - this mix is very much awesome. Brute-forcing through the gargantuan torrent pays off!
Album: 秘境追想
So hey, just delivering what I promised. What, you want me to deliver a comment? Oh well... fine.
The thing is pretty basic as a piece of music. It really does remind me of a remaster of this song I heard earlier, but at least it adds some bells and whistles. It annoys me a little how basic it still is, but Pandora's Box remix is Pandora's Box remix, and at least... no, I won't be bashing Vandyk again. Not in the mood for it.
For all who are interested, the album is called , which is an accumulation of moonrunes for me, and I didn't punch it through google transrate yet, so no idea what it means. Was released for Reitaisai 6... assuming Reitaisai 6 happened 2009.
Album: The Love Songs of Night and Day
Chill, man.
Album: Diverse Disconation
I imagine it is a good piece if you are into that sort of stuff. I know I do appreciate this genre more from day to day. Solid music. Could be improved, but at least it's not Vandyk in his I-pour-ketchup-over-stuff-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA phase.
As for the picture, I swear I started with a serious idea (as serious as little kids on hoverboards can be), but I failed the gun so spectacularily it looked like a camera, and, well, then I did roll with that. Sorry :x
Image by me, Erich or Music not by me.
That stuff aside, it's a fairly basic mix. Hell, it's even made to loop. But the instrumentation is perfectly fine methinks, and, um, yeah. Hey, they changed the intro!
Man, I can't ramble on for hours and hours like Naturalistick without going completely off-topic. To speak of the devil, Muse was chosen 'cause Muse has the most views. And I didn't even link THAT vid on TVtropes. :X
Pic (c) me, Muse not (c) me.
The description I painstakingly prepared doesn't work. Gah.
Not my pic. My translation, take with a whole spoon of salt. (TAKEN DOWN FOR THE GOOD OF ALL)
Album: I'll be damned if I remembered it.
So, um, what to say? Welll, I did put some effort into the picture, for once. ^^'
... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ...Slowpoke?)
In any case, Hachimitsu-Kumasan's style is distinctive, and already known from Touhou Soccer (hence the football), I presume. It's kind of a special taste, but if it is Seihou Arranges, I'm not picky at all. I even plan on uploading more Vandyk. Who knows, perhaps he nails it again, like he did with Flowering Night or False Strawberry. :)
Image done by me, all other stuff, including the character depicted, belongs to the original owners, blah. Blabity blah.
Sorry for the... well... quietness. Was too lazy to fix it~ Taking it too easy, I guess.
Basically sped up computer-ish remix of MGC with artistical liberties taken. 's alright at the very least.
Image inspired by that weird alicegiraffe vid. It did not feature yukkuris, but enough other weird stuff.
I'd much appreciate it if you wouldn't be scared away by the voices in the intro, you'd be missing a perfectly average electronicish remix - without voices.
Trippy art inspired by the original art of the vid. No, really. Also, five minutes work.
Dark, with a sprinkle of piano. Me likes.
Btw, the video image is currently my - homemade - desktop wallpaper.
Album: Alternative
Welcome back, people. I hope you didn't miss me too much. Anyway, I'm back, although I don't know for how long, and I'm certainly not going to work during vacances non-stop.
Alternative, as an album consists solely of songs like this, with a general electronic/ambient style of music, and an usually hardly recognizable base theme. At some point, you always hear a motif you recognize, tho. Oh, and 100% Seihou.
As for the picture - difficult perspective and all that, but the anatomy shouldn't be completely fucked up. I hope.
Cookie to the one who can read the title of the purple book.
I do believe somebody requested this. Anyway, this would be all of Vivit's themes. (Excluding False Strawberry, at least in the Broken Strawberry ShortCake version, and possibly Herselves.)
I am not quite entirely liking this one but then again I like Heavenly Army which virtually nobody else seems to like so yeah. (Dun-dun dun-dun dun dun dun-dun dun-dun dun dun dun-dun dun-dun dun dun dun-dun dun-dun dun dun dunnnn *piano* Oh wait, that was Meets the Gates.) Well, ZUN has shamelessly used Heavenly Army's main theme in at least two different compositions, but that's besides the point.
USELESS TRIVIA: This was an early try at a main menu theme before it got retooled to serve as a boss theme.
Also, I totally had to use this picture somewhere.
The ingame synths do this song great justice, and I am not kidding, by god I am not. ZUN should do more with organs. He really should. This song gets by completely without piano or at least you do not hear it, which proves ZUN does not need that crutch and should use it more like a spice, Heavenly Army-esque. I'd really love another Seihou game with ZUNmusic, of the Seihou kind.
Ahem... ahem... yeah. That's all I have to say.
Track 10 of the SSG OST. Stage 5 boss.
Basically, what you are listening to is the music part of a Shuusou Gyoku normal modo run I did last evening, set to a five minute picture of Erich in his Shuusou Gyoku design.
If you want to annotate because a specific sound effect is deserving an annotation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQAnViS8FmM&layer_token=535503792fc57eab
Also, four quiz questions!
1. (Easy) What shot type didn't I use?
2. (Normal) How often did I die?
3. (Hard) What shot type did I use?
4. (Lunatic) How often did I bomb?
That's all. Enjoy!
Welcome to the ignored track. I did not find a single remix of this, no matter where I looked. (Dust_Box_49 might have covered it but their style makes it hard to tell.) This makes it unique among the Shuusou Gyoku tracks. But, I only uploaded it because I saw someone searched for this one specifically. So, yes, there are people who care for this theme. It might not be outstanding, but it succeeds at setting the mood for a desert stage, even if it originally was planned for a space stage. Hence the title (if you were to believe ZUN, anyway, but he did some seriously drunk comments for this game - he goes epically off-tangent for Magical Girl's Crusade's comment)
I can't say I particularily like this one, but the remixers seem to pay this title tribute. It's an okay city-style track and... well, the city looked like something entirely different to me in-game at first (thought it was the interior of a machine), the clouds transition did not help.
Anyways, enjoy.
As for the boss... Cheapest. Shot. Ever.
I guess I did well, overall, but there still were some fails, and of course Yuuta's cutin leads to a death of me. FOUL PLAY!
Also showing off the attacks here, but it's more like showing off VIVIT-A's bomb, so yeah. But Meteoric Strike is my best friend here.
Arranger: Satomarue
Album: 東方音聞録
Original Track: Mechanical Circus ~ Reverie - actually, this is based on the ZUN arrange of this from Dolls in Pseudo Paradise
Genre: Orchestral
So I was browsing the webs and stumbled upon this little gem. Lime Green as a circle specializes in Piano arrangements and electronica, but they have this genius called Satomarue in their ranks, and Satomarue does Orchestral. And he does a damn good job on these tracks.
While the melody itself is not changed all the much from the Dolls in Pseudo Paradise version, the instruments are, and they really bring out the best for this song. Rest assured that Satomarue is the main reason you should follow Lime Green. Otherwise, they are not that notable, but... yeah. Their other stuff is fairly good too, but only Satomarue does the real quality work. He contributed like one track per album most, but it really shows.
Space! That's all I have to say. I think this also was featured in some fangame, but it was probably too bad for me to remember.
Image depicts astronomy and my astounding lack of knowledge. Yes, Jupiter is missing. That's because he isn't on the screen. Hurf durf!
There is a star constellation suspiciously similar to japanese kana somewhere. Tell me what it says and you receive an e-cookie.
You can earn an e-cookie by both a) telling me what Danmakufu fangame this got featured in and b) what the "galaxies" symbolize, from left to right. All I tell you is that these five... galaxies are linked with each other and the centerpiece, and that the purpose this got used for in the fangame is completely different from the original use here. You might go as far as saying it's the inversion.
Yeah, the picture. I mostly used a glitter function for it. And a few normal brush strokes, too. I really like the effect it has.
Camtasia works like a charm. Thanks, Naturalistick!
You are going to hear perhaps one minute of this theme ingame. This might be for the better, as you just arrived at the calm part of the chorus when meeting the rightfully climatic boss, which fits well. Quite well so, in fact.
The picture, this time, was an experiment with a crumpled canvas and short, low-pressure brush strokes, plus airbrushes for some parts. That's why the space looks that patchy, it's fully intended. It is clearly a rushjob, but yeah, try to bother me into improving it. I dare you. I'm having fun with doing pics this way.
Track 09 of the Shuusou Gyoku OST, composed by ZUN. This is Mechanical Circus ~ Reverie, the fourth boss theme.
The ingame version is better. It gives you a greater feeling of awe, which is not in the wrong place considering the size of Marie's ship. I know I went: "Oh holy mother of god." But, as a boss, Marie's kind of sandwiched between Gates and Erich for me so she's kinda outshadowed.
The picture was me using the blackboard background (with substantially higher "metallic" effect) and the chalk brush/stencil/whatever. As for the fan, consider this: Elbow gloves, blonde hair, usage of fans, lesbian persuasion and sadistic streak. Therefore: THAT MARIE'S A SPAH!
Ahem. The katakana are 100% correct, though.
As for why I chose Lagunas... it's simple. Because he is the Reaper of Runs. Basically, if you haven't been violated by him and his Lego Batter Great!! (sic) at least once, you haven't really played Banshiryuu or you are stuck on Yuuta.
All image creds go to me.
The name is not really translatable for me, it contains five kanji. Picture's entirely mine though.
Say what you want about the Banshiryuu music composers, but they really hit the nail on the head here.
Album: Plastic Mind in Casket of Star
Another thing from the niconico medley, this time I got no word or anything describing it though.
Awesome arrange, even if some (read: riicien) might already know it. Still features excellent E-Guitar work.
Album: Freiheit
Well, here is the promised video, from the niconico Seihou medley. Image credits to unknown pixiv artist.
Sorry for the subpar sound quality. Uploading this was a struggle against my connection and I resorted to lowering the quality to get it done.
Anyway, onto the actual remix... it features superb piano work, and average j-techno-stuff. It works, but is a little repetitive.
Blargh. The picture did SO not turn out like I wanted it to. Still looks decent, but... yeah. :X
Anyways, Herselves itself is a musical masterpiece, and the best credits music I EVER heard. Period. No arguments. This is why I am agitated as my picture doesn't do it justice at all. Everytime I tried to add stuff like a face it looked eww... in the end, I went for the simple artistical nudity look... :X
I had this pic - complete with deformed thumb - sitting around, and wanted to do something with it, and this is the result - some Banshiryuu OST. While it is far from ZUNmusic, well... I'd like to think of these videos as a tribute to Banshiryuu, which is far from a bad game.
Oh, and to Erich, the old pervert, too. I mean, his manual pic is named "hentai.png". (Which means pervert in japanese, just in case you didn't know) I can only guess what happens when VIVIT discovers his stash of meido hentai...
This is the part where I ramble about what makes the song interesting. Ambient intro with a bit of a recurring riff in SSG. Surprisingly light-hearted main part. And I still don't hear it without the machine-gun sounds of a new ring of bullets or the ear-deafening BEEEP that announces a laser wave. That might be the single worst sound effect in Shuusou Gyoku, and believe me, there's a lot of competition.
The image was a bitch to make, and it doesn't really seem to fit, but that's what you get when you base your plan on a bad Iku Nagae reference. Still looks awesome and is now my desktop background.
It's a nice introduction to the game, and noticably more calm than the other songs. You're just starting out.
And this is what makes it beautiful.
Not my image, I'm not nearly skilled enough for that.
This one has a nice beat to it. Boss fight isn't that interesting and has no really memorable patterns - because you're having two opponents - but it's still fun between the two opponents thing and this tune.
ZUN was originally gonna call this 'Disastrous Lolita', before he knew there were twins, not a single opponent... let's face it, the name change is for the better.
Picture whipped up hastily because, damnit, I need to get up some more videos. The weapon design inspiration is from the Mega Man series. (The more you know~)
It is an arrange of Magical Girl's Crusade.
Obligatory Magical Girl's Crusade remix. Discounting the Touhou-related stuff, Magical Girl's Crusade is the single most remixed song from all of Seihou, distantly followed by False Strawberry.
It is an arrange of Lovely Mound of Cherry Blossoms ~ Flower of Japan.
It is an arrange of Alice to Silk Road.
The beginning just reminds me of the Shoot the Bullet menu theme. Can't help the associations. Otherwise, Touhou main theme doing a cameo... it could have used a less heavy style methinks. There's some fabulous ambient instruments going on, and the e-guitar just sorta... ruins it.
It is an arrange of Dichromatic Butterfly ~ Ancients.
Well, yeah, one of the three or four tracks that would be of an interest to a Touhou fan, as one of Reimu's themes. This one sounds good, but for the effort put in it, it seems to lack a little something for me. It has variation - everything - it is just not my piece of strawberry shortcake.
