Moving house to a new city where it always rains, Kit is alone. Making friends is always hard, but here, it feels impossible. The rain beats down on the roof and drips down the window panes, trapping Kit in the quiet stillness of their dingy bedroom. But, one night, when idly scribbling to pass the time, the swirls and whirls on the page giggle into a life of their own, and a very unusual adventure unfolds!
A story about the magic of creativity, how we reach out to each other in the darkness and together, bring the impossible to life.
Devised by one of Bristol’s leading theatre makers for family audiences, Soap Soup combines high quality children’s theatre with the magic of projection mapping, bringing the vibrant illustrations from the book to life. Minny Stynker will bring you a completely unique theatre experience of the like you’ve never experienced before.

Fine today … can’t get out of bed tomorrow. That was three months ago. I’ve been in these pants ever since.
It’s a lot of pressure being Prince Charming. There’s all those dragons to fight and kingdoms to save, not to mention being charming all the time. It’s enough to make anyone a little worried.
Holed up in his bed, Prince Charming is making a list of his worries – from being struck by lightning or getting stuck in quicksand to the problem of his unfortunate name. Somebody needs to come to our Prince’s rescue.
This musical is funny, endearing and suitable for anyone who’s ever felt a bit anxious.

Puppetry is a powerful tool for learning, proven to raise literacy levels, communication skills & confidence. We work with 8 schools in Islington to enhance learning & reach children facing barriers to accessing our work.
After School Puppet Club provides an opportunity to creative engage pupils on a much deeper level, and is especially effective for children with additional needs and/or low self-esteem. Previous evaluation has demonstrated that the program supports speech and language development, teamwork skills and self-confidence.
In fact, we have been running this project for almost 7 years and 85.7% pf pupils were observed improving on “sharing their ideas” and 71.4% improved on “asking for help”.
It is a very special project and for as little as £25 – doubled to £50 by the Big Give– you can pay for our material costs over the 9 week course at one of our schools!
And this year we're raising funds as part of the Big Give #ChampionsForChildren campaign to support this work.

A big adventure for a small city rat
The Curious Rat tells the story of Lucien, a lonely city rat who watches the pigeons from his home under Waterloo Bridge and wishes he could join them in the sky. One day he spots the most amazing pigeon and takes his first brave steps to follow her into the lights of the big city…
Come with Lucien as he scampers across the bridge, dodging rain drops. He will meet a set of troublesome traffic lights, take a ride on a busy bus, dance at the carnival and even escape a flock of angry seagulls. On his adventure he will discover that he may not be a bird with wings, but that he has been given his own special things.
A poignant and poetic tale to inspire children and adults alike. Playfully combining puppetry and animated projection, this story encourages audiences to celebrate the things that make them unique.

“I am sorry for the manner of my leaving but I am not sorry that I left. The weather was so fine for the time of the year, I couldn’t bring myself to go back inside and I knew that if I didn’t leave at that exact moment, I might never go, I might never see the world. I am a doll after all and dolls don’t have the same freedom that people do. When an opportunity presents itself, they must take it, and speedily.”
Inspired by an event that happened in Franz Kafka's life, the production follows Lottie’s adventures to find her own path, exploring the themes of identity, friendship and freedom.

A brand new punk rock musical For everyone over 10
Book & Lyrics P Burton-Morgan Music & Lyrics Holly Mallett
Following the short film commission from Little Angel Theatre in 2022, the world premiere of Medusa’s First Kiss plays at Little Angel Theatre this season.
Medusa has just started at Olympus High. Look, there’s sports star Atlas out on the field, Aphrodite cheerleading from the side, goth Persephone hanging out by the school gates and don’t forget mysterious school-witch Circe… Maybe this is the school where Medusa will finally learn how to fit in. But soon enough she’s out with the gods, as mean girl Athena writes a load of nasty words on her locker and even her own snakes-for-hair decide to give her the cold shoulder. She’s on her own.
Will she ever find friends, let alone love? And who will help her along the way?
Through playful knitted puppetry and electrifying punk rock music from Holly Mallett (Moxy in CBBC’s Andy & The Band) and P Burton-Morgan (In The Willows, Little Mermaid, Jungle Book) this brand new musical of self-acceptance and friendship is brought thrillingly to life. Percy Jackson meets Heartstopper, with rock songs.

On his adventure he will discover that he may not be a bird with wings, but that he has been given his own special things.
A poignant and poetic tale to inspire children and adults alike. Playfully combining puppetry and animated projection, this story encourages audiences to celebrate the things that make them unique.

Grandpa Schmol had the biggest boots in Vitebsk. In all of Russia even.
They were made of fine black leather and he wore them everywhere! Even when he had to take grandma Rachel and the kids and escape the war. His boots saw them all safely to the new land, through steep mountains, choppy seas and vast wasteland. And when they arrived in the new land? The boots became their home.
Based the immigration story of Jewish Russian family in the 18th century, this a fantastical story about endurance and love. A story that shows that no matter how hard things get, as long as you have your shoes on your feet and your loved ones around you – you can feel at home.

About the Artist: I'm Adi, a film maker and a film student on a journey through the world of cinema. My passion for filmmaking led me to some remarkable educational experiences, including being an alumni of the British Film Institute (BFI) and graduating from the National Film and Television School's (NFTS) craft-skills project. These educational milestones have equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue my cinematic dreams. But what truly sets my filmmaking journey apart is my personal background. I arrived in the UK as an asylum seeker, which brought with it a myriad of emotions and challenges. This first-hand experience of not feeling at home in a foreign land has deeply influenced my work as a filmmaker. It has inspired me to explore themes of displacement, the yearning for acceptance, and the process of finding one's place in a new and unfamiliar culture. These themes are close to my heart, and I aim to portray them with authenticity and depth in my films.
My own life has been touched by the kindness of welcoming and accepting friends, and this has left an indelible mark on my filmmaking. The transformative power of human connections and the profound impact of friendship on one's journey are themes that I often explore in my work. In essence, my personal experiences as an asylum seeker turned filmmaker have shaped the stories I tell and the emotions I convey on screen. I hope to bring a unique and authentic perspective to my films, making them both compelling and relatable to audiences who may have faced similar challenges and experiences.

LAT's Puppet For All Scheme began in 2004 and through our School Partnership and Community Engagement Programmes we provide free tickets for local disadvantaged children and their families. We believe nobody should miss out on the potentially live changing benefits of theatre. We want to widen our reach by offering free tickets to classes of children from across the Borough. We want to remove pre-conceptions about the theatre, demonstrating that it can be for everyone.
“To be able to take my children on the scheme when there is free tickets is a rare treat for us. They was amazed and loved every minute of it. For the first time my children sat down and got involved and had smiling faces.” - Puppets for All Beneficiary

Told through the universal language of gesture, Baggage is a sweet and silly puppetry film that wordlessly tells a story of friendship, belonging, and the complex feelings attached to leaving and finding home while retaining personal identity. Hands are a way for everyone, regardless of who they are and where they’re from, to form connections… especially with little red suitcases. Combining hand and shadow puppetry, as well as new greetings devised by participants at Phosphoros Theatre, Baggage is a touching film that shows how even when we feel at our most alone, help is always at hand.
About the artists: Aqiong Zhang is a Chinese artist who recently became an immigrant in the UK. She moved to the UK in 2022 when China was still operating under a strict zero covid policy, and came to London with the intention of trying to find the ‘play’ button to continue her paused life and work. With the act of moving from the known to unknown, she simultaneously experienced feelings of both belonging and isolation. Since her arrival in the UK, Aqiong has worked with various organisations including Little Angel Theatre, SPID Theatre, Bureau of Silly ideas, Ensonglopedia, Polka Theatre, and Chickenshed Theatre as a facilitator, set/costume/puppet designer, puppeteer and performer. Through these projects Aqiong has been able to find a community in a foreign place and feel part of the UK culture whilst still being true to herself. This is why she was so keen to be involved in the Welcome project: which gives others the chance to experience the powerful collaborative spirit the arts can provide.
Caitlin Strongarm is an artist and activist whose work invites playful participation in gentle, silly ways. An applied theatre practitioner, puppeteer and placemaker, Caitlin has worked around the world to co-design interactive artworks that centre community voices on issues of social justice; inclusive, intergenerational and intercultural projects that engage and empower, positively disrupt conventional behaviours and ways of thinking, and connect people through shared experience. Caitlin’s is a co-founder of 3K Art House - radical home, art space and community hub; as well as Save The Warehouses - a grassroots campaign protecting threatened spaces and communities in warehouses across London. Caitlin believes that communities change the world, that a sense of belonging is critical for humanity, and that art is a powerful conduit for social change. See more at: www.caitlinstrongarm.com
