I headed to North Conway the other night to cqpture the Milkyway as it slowly made its way across the sky and toward Cathedral Ledge and Echo Lake.
The first timelapse was captured on a 3-axis motion control dolly (eMotimo ST4 motorized head and Dynamic Perception Stage One motorized dolly. This allowed me to start the composition aiming up toward the tree tops and the sky and rotate down and to the right to catch up to the Milkyway.
The second timelapse was captured on the new Benro Polaris motorized tripod head and tracker. In this timelapse the Milkyway and sky don't move - the ground does. This is because the tracker is designed to track the sky by rotating at the same speed as earths rotation. So as the Milky way rotates around our globe, the camera stays locked onto it, so what you end up seeing as movement is earths rotation.
