On the morning of June 19, 2021, with several hours to kill before CNJ 113's excursion, I headed to the Reading, PA Outer Station to do a short chase of the RBM&N's Rail Diesel Cars as they began their journey to the tourist town of Jim Thorpe. The chase proved difficult; as I turned down the road to my second planned shot I was greeted with the sight of a silver streak at the crossing ahead of me. Hitting half the lights red I only barely managed to beat them to West Hamburg in time to throw my tripod down before they came by. Luckily for me they stopped to pick up passengers at Port Clinton, allowing for one final shot as they passed under the signal bridge. There, waiting for them to clear was GP38-2 2011 at the head of the consist for 113's excursion later that day. Once the RDCs were through it pulled forward onto the main before reversing back through the yard and then switching on the Schuylkill Line. Rather than chase the ferry move there I then headed straight to Minersville to get my first look at the 113.
