As one of the longest running wave energy projects in the world, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) developed a small-scale wave energy converter (WEC) with the aim of providing electricity for oceanographic instruments. MBARI is now working with Sandia to improve the performance of the WEC and disseminate the findings to the wave energy research and development community.
