Molly Parker, the beautiful and talented actor and Canadian National Treasure stars in 'Jockey', a new independent film from Sony Pictures Classic. Molly sat down for an interview to talk about the this new film, as well as what the independent system and the Canadian film industry is like.
‘Jockey’ follows the story of Jackson Silva (Clifton Collins Jr), an aging racer who aims for one final championship. His life of relative solitude is only broken up by his close bond with horse trainer Ruth Wilkes (Molly Parker), his debilitating injuries, and when a rookie rider (Moises Arias) arrives into his life, claiming to be his son.
You might know Parker from her roles in Deadwood, House of Cards, or recently the Netflix juggernaut Lost in Space.
#MollyParker as Ruth in #Jockey, gives arguably a career redefining performance in this role. We talked about her comfort playing Ruth (given her rural upbringing), her love of animals, the characters she gravitates towards, and balancing major Hollywood success but not leaving the Canadian industry completely.
