Bars and clubs... that's where all the "hot" women are, right?
Wrong. The women you see in bars and clubs are the same women you see when you're out in public going about your day. You may just not be integrating your lifestyle fully enough to see it.
It's Friday night, 11pm, you're done with your workweek and you've made the hot club in town. You're at a time and place where a lot of women (and men) gather to show themselves off, party down, and make sure they're lookin' good.
For some of us, this environment can be great. For others, feeling pressured to achieve social success, being confused about how to make small talk, and striving to appear "more confident than that other guy" all become barriers that prevent us from meeting great women, even if there are a ton of women right in front of you to choose from.
If you're serious about meeting someone--whether for a real connection or just a hookup--sometimes bars and clubs are just not a good fit your lifestyle. And there's nothing wrong with that: more than anything else, creating a great lifestyle will lead you to where you TRULY want to be.
Should You Meet Women in Bars and Clubs?Shogo Garcia2014-01-09 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Bars and clubs are great for some guys to meet women, but can be a complete nightmare for others. Do you know which type you are?

Thanks for watching! From Facebook to Girlfriend?Shogo Garcia2015-06-01 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Is it ok to ask someone to be your girlfriend whom you've only talked to on Facebook?
Here's the text from a recent email I received:
"How can I ask a girl to be in a long-distance relationship with me?
I've been speaking with a girl recently on Facebook. This happened after I watched that video when you said that you must say the first thing that comes to your mind.
After a couple of conversations I found out that we have a lot in common and I want to meet her (she wants this too) . . . And one more thing: shall I ask for a relationship when we meet or on Facebook?"
Thanks for watching! How Many Women Have You Slept With?Shogo Garcia2015-05-11 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | I answer a sequence of four unrelated questions I received via email. Here are the times I address each question:
0:54 - What information are you going to give in your newsletters? 1:50 - What is your religion? 3:20 - Where are you from and from originally? 3:53 - How many women have you slept with?
"Shogo you seem like a confident happy guy. But do you have moments where you doubt and second-guess yourself? I tend to do this quite abit, I'm trying to fix it."
How can we--if we can at all--fix our self-doubt and second-guessing to become more confident?
Is it even necessary to fix our doubt and second-guessing to reach true confidence and happiness?
Here are my thoughts on the self-doubt and second-guessing that we all experience, and how we can better understand those negative voices in our heads.

Thanks for watching! Two Keys To A More Fulfilled & Enriched LifeShogo Garcia2015-02-17 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | I speak a lot about the importance of enjoying and appreciating our own lives more fully. The reason is because I strongly believe that whenever we are seeking to attract and connect with other people, or to communicate powerfully to the outside world, or to improve our personalities--whatever the goal may be--it is imminently important to consider how we feel about the source that is doing the "wanting":
"Who is the person wanting to connect better with others?"
"Who is the person wanting to be more confident with others?"
If we don't know ourselves well enough to know if we actually ENJOY and APPRECIATE our own lives, how can we have any confidence that others will enjoy and appreciate our company?
It's often said that, "We must love ourselves before we can love another," or some variation thereof.
Certainly there is a core of truth to that saying. But--and this is a big BUT--we cannot love ourselves simply by saying it. Self-love must be true, genuine, and sincere to the core of our beings.
And what better place to start on the journey of self-love than with discovering enjoyment, fulfillment, and passion in the life of the very person we are to love?

Thanks for watching! The (Secret) Quality of Attractive & Likeable PeopleShogo Garcia2015-02-03 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | The poem in this video is referred to as "The Western Inscription." It actually has no real title (and is more a verse text than a true "poem"), but carries the name because it was inscribed across the the western wall of the author's library:
Heaven is my father and Earth is my mother. Even such a small creature as I finds a little place in their midst. Therefore that which fills the universe I regard as my body, and that which directs the universe I consider as my nature. All people are my brothers and sisters, and all things are my companions. The sage identifies his character with that of Heaven and Earth. In life I follow and serve [Heaven and Earth]. In death I will be at rest.
Chang Tsai, 11th c. China

Thanks for watching!Kindness To Strangers: Whats the Point of Being Nice?Shogo Garcia2015-01-29 | :)Essential Conversation Skills: The Power of ListeningShogo Garcia2015-01-26 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | In my opinion, the most powerful and lasting advice is that which serves to remind us of what we already know... but perhaps have forgotten along the way.
When it comes to our ability to listen to another person as a "tool" or a "practice" in mastering our conversation skills, it seems like there's so much to discuss I don't know where to start. Yet when it truly comes down to it, the act of simply listening is such an essential and fundamental part of conversation that really not much has to be explained about it at all.
Think of this video not so much as providing you with any major insights or ground-breaking ideas, but a simple reminder... to pay attention to your listening :)
Thanks for watching! Are You a Good Person? A Tale of Two WolvesShogo Garcia2015-01-22 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | This is one of my favorite old stories about good and bad. My personal belief is that concepts like "good" and "evil" are just that--concepts. Can any person--or any "thing" for that matter, be inherently good or evil? The division between good and bad, or good and evil, seems to me to be a creation of the mind of man and as such, is brought to life by the mind of man.

In this video, I discuss what rejection truly is: why we feel rejected, why we get down on ourselves, and how rejection something WE DO TO OURSELVES and not something others do to us. This video will help you to better understand your interactions with other people so that you never have to feel rejected again!

Thanks for watching!MOTIVATION: Overcome the Fear of Failure and Take the First Step!Shogo Garcia2014-08-29 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Too many times we get stuck in one place, unable to move forward from where we're at right now because of one simple thing:
We're afraid that we won't make it.
We're afraid that we're not good enough.
We're afraid that we don't have what it takes.
In short: we're afraid of that we may FAIL.
Maybe you're stuck in one place in your life right now. You may have a goal in mind that you're not going for, or an action that you're not following through on that you really wish you could take action and go for.
Here's a short and sweet video explaining why we don't take that first step, in order to give you the motivation you need to follow through on your goals!
That's something I truly believe, and in this video I explain what I believe is the strongest way to internalize the advice that we receive from other people.
After that I discuss the importance of embracing our desires and allowing ourselves to experience our thoughts and emotions instead of squashing and ignoring them.
There isn't really a specific theme in this video, I was just answering email questions by talking into the camera while driving.
Thanks for watching! How to Feel Confident and Secure in Bars & ClubsShogo Garcia2014-08-16 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Do you get nervous, anxious, or insecure going out to bars and clubs on the weekend?
When I went out to bars every Friday and Saturday night, I would often stand in the corner, clutching my drink, looking at all the girls I wanted to talk to and never know what to say or how to start a conversation!
Only years later did I finally understand that overcoming anxiety and insecurity has little to do with WHAT WE SAY, but really is all about HOW WE FEEL about ourselves and what we are doing in every moment.
Check out this video for a quick lesson on how to overcome nervousness and start feeling confident and secure in bars and clubs!

Thanks for watching!Mastering Small Talk (Pt. 1): Seeing Beyond the WordsShogo Garcia2014-08-04 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Do you hate small talk? Get bored or get stuck talking about things you don't enjoy and can't change the topic of conversation?
We often focus so much on what we're talking about that we get frustrated when we're not enjoying the subject matter of conversation. Sometimes all we need is a subtle little shift in our focus: instead of concentrating so hard on WHAT we're talking about and trying to get something out of it, we just need to look at and appreciate the person we're talking to!
The next time you find yourself stuck in a conversation you're bored in or you're really not enjoying, try out what I talk about in this video... it could do wonders for your ability to connect with another person through small talk!
Thanks for watching! What Do Women Really Want?Shogo Garcia2014-07-05 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | What do women desire? What is it that women really want from men? How can you become a man that women want?
These are the age-old questions that men have been asking themselves since, I suppose, the first men walked the earth. Of course there is no definitive answer to any of these questions... If an answer existed, we would certainly know it and the question "What do women want?" would be resolved by now.
In my mind the only answer lies in a reevaluation of the very question we ask ourselves. Why do we ask the question? Where inside of us does it come from? That is the first step in discovering the only answer that matters when we ask, "What do women REALLY want?"
Thanks for watching! How to Speak with Confidence and ClarityShogo Garcia2014-06-12 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | The truth is that I'm not *naturally* a great speaker--I have a tendency to speak too fast, to mumble my words, and sometimes even stutter! But over time and with practice, I've learned to become much better at public speaking and at speaking in regular conversations.
A viewer recently asked me how I learned to speak so clearly and confidently in my videos. Here I offer one of my personal tips on how you can start developing a clear, confident manner of speaking, and stop mumbling and stuttering. Let me know in the comments if you were able to put the advice in this video into practice, and if so, please share your results with us!
Thanks for watching! Why We Get Nervous in Group ConversationsShogo Garcia2014-06-06 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | I often used to get nervous, self-conscious, and really overthink situations whenever I was among groups of people. I often felt uncomfortable not only in the conversation, but even after I left the situation--I would leave worrying how I came across to others for hours, and sometimes even days!
As I expanded my perspective and gain experience in group settings, I came to understand how my old thoughts and behaviors were making me feel anxious and trapped. Once I started to understand my perspective and the limitations of how I was seeing the world and my place in it, my anxiety and nervousness in group settings slowly started fading away. In this video I share with you how my perspective has grown, and I hope it helps you make progress in your own social life!

Thanks for watching! How To Appreciate A Womans BeautyShogo Garcia2014-05-18 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | What does the word "beauty" mean to you? How do you perceive beauty? How do you value a physically attractive person? What do you appreciate when you see a beautiful woman?
"Beauty" is not easy to define in words, nor is it easy to perceive the depths of beauty that we see in another person. Here are my thoughts on beauty and how to strengthen our understanding and appreciation of beauty.
Thanks for watching!Does Pickup Really Work?Shogo Garcia2014-04-15 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Have you ever picked up girls? Do you know how to reverse number close a woman? Can you DHV within the three second rule? Is your state congruent enough to escalate sexual attraction? How micro-calibrated is your reticular activation system?
Whether those terms actually mean something to you, or it just sounds like complete jibberish, the problem many guys encounter in learning how meet, connect with, or just "pick up" women is that they NEVER CONFRONT THEMSELVES and face their own issues.
Too many times, we seek the easy answer. The answer that lets us run away from ourselves--the same selves that we secretly don't like to look at in the mirror--instead of facing ourselves openly and honestly, and dealing with our issues head-on.
It's often easier to follow the path that gives us a "goal" or "somewhere to be" or the "next level" to break through... any path except for the one that makes us confront and embrace where we are right now.
Do you often get stuck in a conversation, stressing about what to say next?
Do moments of silence creep into your conversations, creating awkward situations where you don't know what to say?
Moments of silence will always happen in conversation. It's what you do with the silence that matters.
Whenever you are stuck in a conversation you are having, remember one important thing: Sometimes the best parts of a conversation are the moments in between the talking, when nothing at all is said.

Thanks for watching! How to be SUCCESSFUL with WomenShogo Garcia2014-03-07 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | What is it about the word "success" and its use in conjunction with the word "women?"
"Success" can occur when executing a business project. Or when you pass a test. Or finish a marathon.
But we never say, "I'm successful with my friends."
Nor do we say, "I'm successful at life."
Why not? Because our important relationships, those that lie at the core of our lives, are to be appreciated and enjoyed.
In our relationships with women, there is nothing to win, and there is nothing to measure. Like our relationship with life itself, these are experiences to be had a treasured, not events to be figured out.
When we let go of our attachment to "get something out of it" or to "get this area of our lives handled"--when we understand that there never was anything to "succeed" at in the first place, then we are able to experience our relationships the way they are meant to be enjoyed... for the sake of enjoyment itself!
Thanks for watching!Understanding Effortless ActionShogo Garcia2014-02-25 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Knowing when and how effortless action takes place is both a skill and an art: It can be learned and practiced, and there is significance and meaning in the execution itself.
Effortless action is known in Taoism as "wu-wei", but it is a human discipline that spans various cultures around the world. The "round peg and square hole" example that I give here is adapted from a great little book called "The Tao of Pooh":
"When you work with Wu Wei, you put the round peg in the round hole and the square peg in the square hole. No stress, no struggle. Egotistical Desire tries to force the round peg into the square hole and the square peg into the round hole. Cleverness tries to devise craftier ways of making pegs fit where they don't belong. Knowledge tries to figure out why round pegs fit into round holes, but not square holes. Wu Wei doesn't try. It doesn't think about it. It just does it. And when it does, it doesn't appear to do much of anything. But Things Get Done."

In all our anticipation for those juicy moments, we often forget (or sometimes don't even don't realize) that we end up spending most of our time in waiting and in anticipation, and very little time in actual enjoyment.
All occurrences in life are passing moments--both the great moments we want to cling to and savor, and the dull moments we try to get through and forget. Sometimes this realization carries with it a great sadness, which can leave us feeling trapped and helpless.
The answer is not to treat all moments as neutral and the same, so as to detach and desensitize ourselves from experiencing the beauty of life. Instead, a deeper enjoyment can be found when we allow ourselves to embrace and savor the beauty--even sometimes the painful beauty--of the entire spectrum of life's experience.
So much of our daily lives revolves around using the mind and our mental process to communicate who we are and put our lives into order. In order to truly experience a moment with another person, however, we have to let go of the process of thinking and get more into the process of feeling.
Thanks for watching!Conversation Skills: How to Stay Present in ConversationShogo Garcia2014-01-25 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | Does your mind wander when you're in conversation? Do you get stuck in your head, thinking about the next thing to say? Worrying about the last thing you said?
Whenever we worry about how we are coming across to others in conversation, our minds run frantic. We try to think of what to say next, we think about the last thing we said, we worry if the conversation is running smoothly.
In all our worries, we miss every moment at hand as the conversation unfolds, and we miss any connection we could have had. As the conversation is in a perpetual state of unfolding in the present moment, our minds feel trapped on a linear path of time, not knowing where to focus or where to rest.
We lose the ability to listen, speak, think clearly... In short, we lose the ability to enjoy the beauty of the moment as it unfolds.
Thanks for watching! How To Be A More Interesting PersonShogo Garcia2014-01-16 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | The way I see it, we're really just a system of glorified tubes. We have input, and we have output: we take information in, and let information out.
We are never the source of our own inspiration. We are the vessel through which the information passes. That's why, in order to develop yourself as a more interesting person and show up in conversation in an interesting and inspired way, what matters most is HOW WE PROCESS the information that passes through us.
How do you process your input?
How engaged are you with the world around you?
Where do you find interest in things?
When we explore these questions, the world of inspiration and delight begins to open, and we begin see the world with new eyes!

Thanks for watching! Are You Asking The IMPORTANT Questions?Shogo Garcia2013-12-04 | http://www.thesocialgeneration.com | How inspired are you right now in your dating life? What are you concerned with? What do you think about? Where could you improve?
We often get so wrapped up with the little things that it sucks all the life and enthusiasm out of our dating lives:
"How do I show her I'm polite?"
"Should we split the check?"
"I need a haircut."
"Once I can afford a nicer car..."
We're so concerned with these questions that we rarely stop a moment to consider: AS YOU THINK, SO SHALL YOU BE.
When we're wrapped up in how to deal with the small questions, we live our lives in small ways. We talk about small things. And we attract people just like that.
Instead, think BIG. Ask yourself the bigger, important questions. When you think big, you walk big. Your discussions and your thoughts are big. Check out this video to find out how...

Thanks for watching!Confidence vs Truth: What Is Attractive to Women?Shogo Garcia2013-10-04 | What does it mean for a man to be connected to his "truth"?
In this video, I was asked (right after waking up) whether women are more attracted to "truth" than they are to confidence in men.
While I don't like to assume what "women" on the whole are attracted to, as every person is different in what they find attractive, I discuss what the concepts of "truth" and "confidence" mean, and how to better understand the way it plays out in our own lives.
http://www.thesocialgeneration.com advises men who are single, dating, and in relationships toward a better path of becoming more attractive to the women in their lives...
You stare at your phone. You wait for a response. And wait. And wait.
Now what? Do you follow up with another text? HOW do you follow up? What do you do? Check out this video to gain deeper clarity on your thoughts and on your mind to understand exactly how to handle this situation.
I always try to make everything perfect. I try to make every video that I put on YouTube absolutely perfect.
The problem is that perfectionism does not exist.
There is no perfect moment in life. When we wait for the perfect moment, we miss the beauty of the moment that is right in front of us. Right now is the only moment that matters in life, because life only happens in the present moment.
I hope that you take away something from this video. This video is far from perfect, it's not edited at all, yet I'm taking action and putting it out there for you to see anyway.
Take action, don't wait for the perfect moment to come, because there is no such thing as a perfect moment. Now is the only thing that matters, so if there is something you've been meaning to do in your life, if there is something you've been meaning to say to someone, I encourage you to take action now.
Don't wait. There is no time like now.

REJECTION! (More specifically, the FEAR of rejection.)
In this video, Shogo explains what rejection really means, and why it's pointless to not only be afraid of getting rejected by a woman, but how it is actually GOOD for a successful and healthy dating and social life.
