This is the 1930s German titles to The Steeple-Chase, scanned from a 16mm Agfa print. It includes the long-lost original opening and closing themes – and an MGM lion at start! The lion is of course quite confusing; the only reason I can think of is that since German film company Ufa distributed both United Artists and MGM films, it was added by mistake (the print has no splices, so it’s been there all along). Also interesting to note is that while the titles are in German, the soundtrack is original. (By the way, all scenes of Thunderbolt getting drunk were missing from this print, probably due to the rather strict Nazi censorship of the time.)
