Listen at the very end to hear how much my voice has changed since then! It doesn't take much work to actually record and edit a video like this, but I sure worked a hell of a lot on the sounds. I even made some changes all the way into 2012.
I've slightly reworked some sounds, mainly the suit and the testing room's announcements. If you want the sounds, leave a comment or something and I'll upload them.(HD) Half-Life 2, Lowest Graphical Settings Possible, RemadeR2Bl3nd2013-04-11 | Settings (works in other source games):
I did not make the similar mod for Half-Life 2. I did make one for Half-Life, and TRASE666 saw my post on facepunch.com about it and thought it would be fun to make one for HL2.Half-Life is Way Cooler with Bullet-TimeR2Bl3nd2009-09-28 | More info here: facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=821130
I used a few custom binds to change the speed of everything except me in Half-Life: Source. I also changed the physics "push scale" to make stuff go flying when it is killed.

I'd have done a much better job had I done this video recently. Also I sounded like a total idiot in it for whatever reason.)
I give a brief tutorial on the making of a simple TAS. For more information, visit http://www.tasvideos.org
I lowered the graphical quality of Half-Life 2 by a huge amount by creating a custom configuration file, and this is the result. I didn't disable vertical sync, so the whole time the game was running at a solid 60 FPS, and I have no idea how high it could've gone if I had removed the cap.
The settings used were the following. Put them into a config file to see the effects (note that this is for an older version of the source engine and won't produce the same effects as in this video anymore):
I compiled that list together from various videos I found, as well as from messing around with all of the commands beginning with "mat_". Some of the strange effects you see are probably easily removed with no performance impact, so if you find anything, comment about it.Psychedelic Recursive Video OddyseyR2Bl3nd2009-06-07 | I was simply feeding the camera's output to the TV, and recording the result. I started recording these clips for Half-Life around 2003 or 2004 - I just would record a whole bunch of files every few weeks or so. My voice changed while making the recordings, so some of the voices sound quite different, although the oldest ones I deleted by mistake and had to re-record. I wanted to just replace the voices like with "Mike & Pete's" mod, but I decided to take it to another level by replacing every single wav file in the game. I currently only have some enemy sounds to replace, as well as the voice announcement system and hgrunt sounds. I may leave those unchanged due to the vast amount of clips, but I'll see what happens.
The actual game's sound is slightly better than how it was recorded in this video. I recorded the voices in the original Half-Life format, which is 11025 hz and 8-bit, although some are 22050 hz. Since I did not know a whole lot about audio editing then, there are some clips that are quite poor in quality. Getting the looping sounds to loop was a challenge, because I had to keep the WAV file's markers to show when the clip was supposed to loop -and thanks to Adobe Audition, this was no problem. Also, the game automatically moves the NPC's mouth to match the volume of the voice clip, meaning I didn't have to do any manual lip syncing, like I'd have to do with Half-Life 2.
This mod also works in Half-Life: Source, but some physics and weapon impact sounds that are part of the source engine would not be replaced with my voice automatically.
To install, simply move the 'sound' folder contained within my archive to the 'steamapps/[username]/half-life/valve' folder. To remove the mod, simply delete the 'sound' folder.

The second was a completely rewritten game also for DOS. The third was simply a port of the second to Windows 95. All you need to do is press Left and Right at the same time while above a train.
This glitch is hard, but not impossible, to do on a real gameboy. To do it, here's how:
1. But a Nintendo tri-wing screwdriver from http://www.dealextreme.com (it's way cheaper to get it here)
2. Take apart your gameboy completely, until you can remove the plastic directional buttons.
3. Put it back together, except without the directional buttons included. You may want to leave the face plate off, as it would be rather hard to press the buttons otherwise.
4. Play the game normally, but now you can press Up+Down or Left+Right. Now just go above any train level (like "Stop That Train"), and press Left and Right at the same time. The game will freeze.
Warning: I am not responsible for damage to your equipment from reading these instructions. If you don't have a clue what you're doing, don't attempt this.
Also, the only reason I landed on the bird and pressed the buttons was to cause this strange sound.Wario Land II: Screen Wrap GlitchR2Bl3nd2008-09-07 | SparkWolfx On YouTube pointed this out to me.
It appears that the level designer(s) accidentally forgot to make this block unbreakable. This results in a wrapping glitch, explained in my "Get a Mushroom That Fell Down a Pit" video.
This glitch was fixed in the Gameboy Color version. Don't complain to me saying how you can't do it.Kirby is a master Samurai!R2Bl3nd2008-07-08 | Kirby had no reaction time whatsoever! Notice how all of the reaction times are 0.0 seconds (except the first).

Here's how this glitch works, in the geekiest terms possible:
There are three ways of dying in SMB. The first way is to get touched by an enemy. The second way, which is almost identical to the first, happens when the time runs out. The only difference is that a different message displays at the end.
The third way involves falling off of the bottom of the screen. This type of death is completely different from the rest. In the first two ways, everything stops except mario. Then, mario proceeds to play the death animation. But when you fall off of the screen, mario keeps on falling. He can still get killed in the other two ways. All that happens is that the death sound plays, and after a few seconds the game counts you as dead.
This means that if you fall off the screen and get hit by an item, the following will happen:
1.The screen stops scrolling
2.The death sound plays
3.Mario gets hit by a hammer
4.Death type 1 initiates
5.The game continues on as if mario has only been hit by the hammer, except for the fact that he is far off the bottom of the screen. Only one life is lost.
People too deaf to not hear the sound play twice in the original video will hear it here.
So there.Get a mushroom that fell down a pit in SMBR2Bl3nd2008-07-01 | This is a better quality version than in my original video. Kaettekita Mario Bros has a weird title screen and intro (featuring in-game advertising for cereal, a game, and one other thing), but the gameplay is exactly like Mario Bros for the arcade. This speedrun was kind of hard to make at some points, but overall it was simple. I sometimes had to retry dozens of times at certain points (for example, 3:44 was very hard to do) The total re-record count for this movie is 196.
I only played 10 rounds because any more would be boring.
Enjoy!Megaman 2 GlitchR2Bl3nd2007-07-17 | I saw a video of this glitch from tasvideos.org and decided to showcase it by recreating it in this video.Lego Star Wars II DS Freeze GlitchR2Bl3nd2007-07-10 | This is a video of me freezing Lego Star Wars II DS. Deluxe SpeedrunR2Bl3nd2007-07-09 | I made a tool-assisted speedrun of Super Mario Bros Deluxe for the Game Boy Color. 1. Dying twice at the same time 2. Turning enemies into koopas 3. Dying and beating a level, with the death music playing twice 4. Getting a mushroom that fell down a pit
Mario vanishes on glitch 4 because of the frame rate of the video. But all I did was fall down the pit.
Also, these glitches have certainly been seen before, but prior to this video were not really known outside of tasvideos.org and a few other places.Messing around in Wario Land 2R2Bl3nd2007-05-06 | Just messing around in the game with tool assisting.
