Mainly about bandwidth selection, noise and output resolution…
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the last video we did a deep dive into the AMR Wheatstone bridge sensors used by the MMC5983MA (link below). Now it’s time to have a look at how good, that is how noisy, the data from these sensors is after the MMC5983MA processed it.
But first we implement the software reset and OTP memory read commands. Then we write some code for the bandwidth settings and guestimate the noise levels at 16 and 18 bit. Finally we implement continuous measurements in our library.
00:00 Intro – time to implement some more functionality
00:45 Reset and OTP read – exactly what you expect
06:09 Bandwidth – 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz and 800Hz
12:46 Noise at 18 bits – as advertised, but 800Hz is weird
20:59 Signed and Gauss values – for 16 bits this time
23:52 Noise at 16 bits – somewhat higher, but for 800Hz
30:12 Continuous measurements – controlled by 4 bits
35:42 Wrap-up – next time it’s more configuration, bye
