$5 tickets are available now via https://melvins.veeps.com. A limited-edition, commemorative poster and t-shirt, both featuring artwork by Junko Mizuno and Mackie Osborne, are available exclusively to attendees. The stream will be available to view or purchase for a full week following the Dec. 31 debut. Void Mains opens.
“’Melvins TV, New Year’s Evil’ is as close to a live show as we can get during this hideous pandemic,” said Buzz Osborne. “We’ll be doing more of these so tune in and enjoy! Happy New Year!”
The first in a series of streams, the outing features the core Melvins line-up of Osborne, Dale Crover and Steven McDonald. The band recently announced the Feb. 26 release of Working With God, a second full-length album featuring the Melvins 1983 line-up of Osborne, Crover and original Melvins’ drummer Mike Dillard. Album pre-orders are available now (lnk.to/MelvinsWWG). Dale Crover releases his sophomore full-length, Rat-A-Tat-Tat!, on Jan. 15 (pre-order: http://joyfulnoi.se/Rat-a-tat-tat).

Geraldine Morales:
When I made the video, I focused on feelings of sweetness/eeriness that the music suggested. To me, the actress is representing a witch who’s barefoot, playing outside with nature. I imagine her like a sort of Maenad, that’s why her moves and the way she caresses the trees is not just sweet, but suggestive.
Niko Wenner:
Begun circa 2012, alone facing West at the kitchen table, San Francisco, my white Stratocaster guitar played acoustic/no amp, phone recording, then, 2022 in France among family, headphones, layering that mono recording in ProTools with different start times, a nod to the tape-choir of composer Steve Reich’s “It’s Gonna Rain” begun in 1964 San Francisco, the tempo entropy made to slowly re-sync; finally, adding a phone recording of a mysterious tuned-exhaust fan located where long ago the ocean met land in, now, downtown San Francisco, the “drone” of the working title “Happy Drone.”
