So we kick things off with the raid on Maverick Hunter HQ, as we get an animated sequence that transitions into the sequence in the SNES version. We run into our good old friend, Mac, who turns out to have betrayed us and joined Doppler's forces. He yoinks X and Zero comes in to rescue him, making his playable debut in the series. Speaking of Zero, I will be making it a point throughout this to play as Zero at least once in each stage I'm able to.
