$Workshop | A Developer’s Guide to compliance and safety by design In an era of fractured online safety and privacy regulations, this workshop explored how to design age-appropriate features—from targeted ads to loot boxes and chat—without violating rules. Learn about risk areas, mitigating solutions such as age assurance, and why compliance unlocks new markets rather than just creating additional costs. Additional topics include practical steps such as feature flagging, frictionless parental consent, and robust community management. Kay will discuss bridging gaps between platform age limits and local digital age of consent, while leveraging the UNICEF RITEC Design Toolbox for holistic, child‑centered design.
