Maggie Board, a 2025 University of Kentucky graduate, reflects on her journey from a fourth-generation farm in Hardin County to earning a degree in agricultural economics at the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Along the way, she discovered how agriculture connects to every sector and how hands-on learning, supportive faculty, and real-world experiences prepared her for life after graduation.
Through internships with Farm Credit Mid-America and the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, leadership roles in DanceBlue and Delta Zeta, and close mentorship from faculty, Board built confidence and professional skills that shaped her next steps. She graduates with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and a minor in business from the UK Gatton College of Business and Economics and will begin her career as a credit analyst with Farm Credit Mid-America in Louisville.
Her story reflects how Martin-Gatton CAFE prepares students to step beyond their comfort zones, connect learning to real-world impact, and grow into future leaders who improve lives across Kentucky.
