All was lining up for it to be a very rough crossing. However, a secondary area of low pressure formed just west of the English Channel basically dropping the wind speed from Force 10 to 1... The first 4/5 hours of the crossing were therefor uneventful as there was barely any wind. Ferry Crossing - King Seaways - IJmuiden to Newcastle Ferries In Focus 2024-08-14 | With DFDS offering a 50% saving on their minicruises , it was the perfect time for a trip over to Newcastle on the 1987 built King Seaways. The vessel is still in perfect condition despite her 37 years at sea. The weather for this trip was a strong northwesterly wind, Force 7-9 with a moderate to rough sea state. We left a bit late from IJmuiden due to the weather but arrived on time in Newcastle. I can highly recommend this mini cruise, especially when it's on offer.. the crew and food are amazing and both vessels were only recently refurbished with new cabins.
Storm Crossing - P&O Pioneer - Calais to Dover Ferries In Focus 2024-04-10 | On 09/04/2024 storm Pierrick made for a pretty windy day on the Dover Strait so the perfect time for a trip to Dover. And a good day to test the seakeeping of P&O's new double ended Fusion Class ferries. Please note this video only contains footage from part of the Calais to Dover crossing. Halfway to Dover they decided to close all outside decks so there was no way for me to get any more good footage after that point.
Storm Crossing - Stena Vision - Cherbourg to Rosslare Ferries In Focus 2023-11-13 | On 09/11/2023 I took a trip on the Stena Vision from Cherbourg to Rosslare as they were forecasting quite lively weather. After the sailing was first cancelled, they decided to sail anyway but with a delay to avoid the worst of the weather. I would like to thank the crew of the Stena Vision for the excellent crossing and getting us safely to Rosslare and back.The Stena Vision is really one of those vintage ferries from the 80s with massive amounts of deck space and a layout you can't find anymore these days. So it was a bit of a blast to the past.The weather we encountered was interesting. It started with a good gale (force 8) in the Channel followed by a force 5 to 7 further towards Land's End and a nice swell of about 4-6 metres coming from the Atlantic.
