After months, countless hours and a lot of dedication Masterpiece anime is finally finished. The fifth anniversary video!
I put all my skills to the test and pushed my limits with this amv,I wanted to show my dedication and love of editing. I choose Masterpiece theatre III because it’s such an emotional song. This is the hardest, most time consuming and personal amv I’ve ever made. It also allowed me to tell my story. I taught myself how to animate and mask. One of the reasons I did that was to show everyone what I can do. If you recall a while ago I uploaded my editing evolution, which showcased my improvement over the years. all the amvs and pmvs in that video lead me to this. all the hours and years I’ve spent editing lead to this video. I first thought of this idea the summer of 2016, I was on a road trip and thought back on my editing journey. I told myself I’d make this video for my fifth anniversary, but before that I needed a pro system which I got the following fall.
if you can tell, this amv has a story. “I’m so frustrated, falling behind, you were a friend of mine” referring to friends I’ve lost. “‘cause they don’t know you like I do” my unhealthy relationship with youtube and editing when i was younger. “There’s a difference from me to them” me and my high school peers, because they would never understand this community. “I can never go, go back home again actavia is gone” LZS is gone and I can never return. “So here’s another day I spend away from you, another night I’m on another broken avenue” the loneliness I felt for not having my friends or youtube. “trading in who I’ve been for shiny celebrity skin, I like to push it and push it until my luck is over” working so hard to become a better editor, while letting go of my social life. “I’ll make this perfect again” finally finding the balance between my school life and my online life. 2018 explains me finally being a peace with the roller coaster we call life and being able to do what I love doing. “i’ve been here so very long” referring to how long I’ve been editing and finally “I don’t know how it got this way” which is me reflecting on how this all came to be, I honestly don’t know how I ended up where I am today. the whole video ends with me and Star.
The two characters at the end was drawn by my good friend Sky. the zorua is my old persona, I went by Star for so long, Star was a female zorua with a star birthmark and always wore a star necklace she got from her grandfather. the human in the polar bear hoodie is me. Star will always be a part of me and I’ll never forget her. I asked Sky if she
could draw a picture of Star and I and she delivered this amazing piece of art.
