An exclusive stereo remix and remaster from the original 1968 release of “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye. Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records, the first single release was in September 1967 by Gladys Knight and The Pips, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart. Because of Knight’s own hit record, Berry Gordy, Motown Founder, rejected the single release for Marvin Gaye’s version, which was included on Gaye’s “In The Groove” album. But it was the radio DJs that kept playing the “Grapevine” track from that album, forcing Gordy to approve Gaye’s recording for a single release in October 1968. I Heard It Through The Grapevine stayed at the top of the Billboard Pop Singles Chart for seven weeks.
