Marcie Free, formerly Mark Free, may not have been a household name. If you however were a big fan of AOR and melodic rock, you will know that Marcie Free is often considered THE voice of AOR, up there with greats including Steve Perry and Jimi Jamison. Free had a plethora of solo material floating around with session work and soundtracks, aside from fronting the bands King Kobra, Signal, and Unruly Child. Sadly, Marcie Free has passed away at age 71.
This clip was sent to be my Robin Randall. It is an excerpt from a Zoom call I participated in from November 2021 to commemorate the release of her and her mothers HOLLYRIDGELAND anthology box set from Melodic Rock Classics. I got to spend two hours shooting the breeze with songwriting greats including Robin Randall, Jeff Silverman, Steve Zell, Aina O'Kane, and Diana DeWitt. Most notably, Marcie herself was present. Marcie was a subscriber of mine here on YouTube and would frequently leave comments on my videos and Facebook posts. This clip shows a nice moment where we connect "face to face."
