When replacement parts are no longer available, sometimes you have to make them yourself.
In this video, I create a replacement feed gear for a **Silca Special key machine**. This gear is part of the feed mechanism that allows the carriage to move correctly during operation.
With older key machines, finding genuine replacement parts can be difficult — and sometimes the part you need simply isn't available anymore. Instead of throwing away a good machine, the solution is to repair, reproduce or manufacture the missing part.
In this video, we look at the process of recreating the gear and getting this classic Silca key machine working again.
