This rain barrel is based on a design from Family Handyman. I cannot find a link to the article. I read about this in the October 2008 issue of the magazine.
Parts
1/2" garden spigot
Two 3/4" fender washers
One 1/2" female electrical PVC adapter
rain downspout to male plastic drain pipe adapter , must match size of your downspout, measure it.
4" pipe clamp
One 1-1/2" female electrical PVC adapter
One 1-1/2" male electrical PVC adapter
One 1-1/2" PVC 90º elbow
Short length of 1-1/2" PVC pipe
Scrap window screen
High quality silicone caulk, outdoor rated
One outdoor rated heavy duty trash can
