Why doesn't mainstream media talk about detransitioners?
I often hear transgender people say that the testimonies and stories of detransitioners will only arm far right, conservatives and transphobic anti-trans individuals and organisations with means to use against the trans community and negatively impact their access to healthcare and treatment and may create more transphobia in society.
In this video i am proposing a possible solution to this problem and talk about why i think that mainstream media and more liberal and progressive media should talk more about the subject of detransition and transition regret instead of leaving it to the conservative media and far right platforms which gives those platforms a monopoly on the topic of detransition and detransitioners.
The vast majority of people detransitioning are not conservative and if the liberal and progressive media was more welcoming to us that's where we would go to. The conservative media often gives voice and platform to detransitioners but they don't always have the same intentions. My ideal goal is that those who need this treatment should get the best treatment possible while others should be thoroughly diagnosed to avoid misdiagnosing and reduce futher transition regret.
The liberal media has an opportunity to bring more nuance into this debate and tackle the issue instead of avoiding the subject. As a detransitioner myself, i think that the people we should be talking to are progressive journalists, politicians and trans community, trans activists and trans organisations in order to be taken seriously and shine light onto the issues detransitioner are facing.
I am a detransitioner who first talk about my experience with gender dysphoria, transition and detransition in my video "My detransition story: the dark truth behind gender dysphoria and transition regret." Since then i continued making videos on the subject of detransition, gender ideology as well as various other subjects including politics, philosophy, social issues and mental health. I have made appearance on other Youtube channels including Buck Angel and Shape Shifter. I have also collaborated with Ritchie Herron on multiple occasions and appeared in a documentary "Lost Boys Searching for Manhood" alongside a fellow detransitioner Ritchie Herron. The film was directed by Jennifer Lahl who was also a guest on my channel.
