Back at the historic Mai-Kai in Fort Lauderdale for my second visit!

I accidentally arrived an hour early, but they still seated us and brought ice water while we waited. This time I focused on the drinks and atmosphere instead of the show.

• Strolling the tropical gardens

The Mai-Kai is one of the last great Polynesian palaces from the tiki era, and it still delivers that immersive experience even if you’re not seeing the show.
