Well.... Its A Gasser Now - 1955 Chevy Nomad, COLD Storage To HOT ROD DD Speed Shop 2023-01-01 | The Nomad is in the garage and all thawed out. Last spring I had robbed a few parts off the Nomad so I had spares for my 57 during power tour. As it turns out I "borrowed" a few more parts than I remembered. The Nomad needed a replacement diff, springs, bushings, shackles and pretty much everything else. With the rear end in the car I decided to put 2 inch lowering blocks out back and raise the front end a couple inches for the perfect gasser look. The 10 bolt rear end is all rebuilt with 3.73 gears and a posi center section. The drive line should be completely bullet proof and work very well together. Unfortunately the drive shaft shop is closed and I had to order a few more brake parts before she's a driver.What do you do when you're all out of parts? Push the car outside and bring another junker in the shop. We're gunna wrench on the 55 Nomad for a few video's. Swap rear ends, fix the brakes ect. A over-kill radiator and fans is something I always like to have in a roadtripper. I have run stock Tri-5 radiators in the past with varying levels of success. Stock style radiators work well but have a limit with extreme temperature. Since this car will be used for long hauling cruising in the deep south followed by the stop and go traffic of power tour, I decided to kick it up a notch.I bought the largest universal aluminum radiator I could find. So big that I had to recess it in the splash pan to fit under the hood. Add 2 high volume electric fans and we have a cooling system built for death valley!Now this was all easier said than done..... SKETCHY Fuel Tank Welding, Shake Hands With Danger - EFI Is Such A Hassle DD Speed Shop 2022-12-07 | In today's video we cut and weld on a used fuel tank to retrofit a high volume/pressure fuel pump. Tri 5 Wagons have a very strange fuel tank design. The tank wraps around the spare tire well so the fuel pick up needs to be off to one side.They do sell new efi tanks, but the price tag is outrageous. A new tank would cost more than I initially paid for the car.So I ordered up a universal drop in fuel pump to supply the motor with fuel. For the pump to fit, I had to cut and lower the mounting service into the tank. The same exhaust that came of the car, how hard should it be?Turns out, very hard. The direct fit headers slid right into place. It was all going great until I noticed the Speedway headers where drilled wrong from the factory. I bolted them up the best I could and carried on. At the end of the day Speedway stood tall and sent me out a new set of headers. OFF THE RAILS ALREADY? - Making It Up As We Go On The Healey Build DD Speed Shop 2022-11-27 | Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part. Where do you even start when looking at a literal crate full of parts?Just start grabbing pieces and putting them together. Today I disassemble then re-assemble the front suspension from the donor vehicle to the Healey. The worst part of the whole build is everything has a 4 bolt wheel pattern! Don't worry I have 5 lug stuff on order.With the front suspension together we move out back and start the moch-up of the rear end. Unfortunately the kit had no rear suspension so it will be solid mounted for the time being.
