Painting Grilled Corn Salad in the Kitchen Studio: Painting & Cooking Demo Anne Livingston Art 2025-07-07 | I’ve started working out how to merge my increased kitchen time with the need to paint every day. I hope to feed my family while also honing speedy painting/oil sketch skills. In this video I demo my painting process using produce on the counter as my subject, and follow up with a cooking process of how I made an improvised grilled corn salad.I have no idea if this will work or not, but thought I’d bring you along and show you how I’m doing it right now! Thanks for joining in the fun!Here's a loose recipe of what I made:4 ears of grilled cornAbout 1 cup leftover grilled vegetables: bell peppers and onion1 cucumber1 large carrotabout 1/8 of a fresh red onion (a few slices)1 small bunch parsleyDressinga little less than 1/4 cup sherry vinegar (or any other vinegar you prefer: white wine, balsamic come to mind)about 1 tsp cuminabout 1 tsp saltabout 1/2 tsp black pepperabout 1/4 tsp red pepper: aleppo pepper, silk chili pepper, red pepper flakes1 clove garlic, minced or pressed2 tsp dijon mustarda little less than 1/2 cup olive oilRemove kernels from corn and chop all the other vegetables into small pieces similar in size to the corn kernels, except finely mince the fresh red onion and the parsley.Dressing: Whisk all dressing ingredients together besides the olive oil in a glass measuring cup or small bowl. I went live for the first time and it will hopefully only get better from here 😉 In this recording of the live video I talk about how I am not buying new art supplies this year so that I will use what I have. it's a daunting challenge, but I think it will both save me money and help me appreciate what I have. I think it will also inspire the kind of great creativity that comes from limitations. And it might even get me a little extra room in my studio as I get clearer on what I actually use. There may be moments when I truly, truly need a supply. If that is the case then I will plan on buying it at a local small business.
