This year has been not the best for me reading wise, so I’m going to do my best to be more of a mood reader, and have picked the books off my shelves that speak to me for this reading moment. Lots of spooky books and atmospheric historical fiction for my favourite time of the year.

As a reader whose experience with classics is mostly limited to the 19th century, I decided to give myself an intro to modernism by reading some 20th century lesbian literature, as many of the well known and influential names of the modernist period were lesbians, women who loved women, or otherwise gender non conforming women. The relaxed sexual morality of the interwar period among the artistic elite coupled with the rejection of victorian rigidity may go part way to explaining this, and after having listened to the podcast The Feminist Present reading The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall, the crossover between gender non conformity and modernism drew me in. I hope you enjoy my early early explorations of this genre.

Hello! Welcome to my Scottish Highlands and Islands travel guide. Recently I travelled to Scotland on public transport, and explored some of the most beautiful parts of the UK using only public transport. The West Highland Line is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in the world, the Isle of Skye is stunning, and the Knoydart peninsula is the last wilderness in the UK. It was a wonderful trip, and I hope it inspires you.

Well, not the whole longlist. Every year since I started this channel I have read the Women's Prize for Fiction Shortlist. And it hasn't always gone so well. So this year I decided to try something a bit different, and create my own shortlist of interesting books from the longlist, and read that instead. Also, me reacting to the women's prize for fiction shortlist. Please enjoy !

It's part one of my travel vlog to Mexico! My first week in Mexico we visited Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara (and Tlaquepaque) and Guanajuato, and it was amazing. We saw humpback whales in the pacific ocean, visited an isolated tropical beach, ate amazing food and did a walking tour of Guadalajara, saw live mariachi music, and experienced the wonderful magic of Mexico's most colourful city, Guanjauato
