Did you know that Lucky the Leprechaun wasn’t always the face of Lucky Charms?
In 1975, General Mills decided to shake things up and replaced Lucky with Waldo the Wizard in New England for a short time! Why? They thought Lucky was a little too "mean," so they tested a new, forgetful mascot with some magical wordplay—enter Waldo!
Instead of saying "magically delicious," Waldo would call the cereal “ibbledebibbledelicious!" 🧙And guess what? In the market test, Waldo outshone Lucky! But after just a year, Lucky returned and Waldo disappeared for good.
So, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and all things *magically delicious*, let’s celebrate the charms that make Lucky Charms so special.
