I found a catfish recipe online that made my mouth water. Best of all, it’s EASY. I don’t know much about catching catfish. But I can catch bass, bluegill and crappie. Their flesh is a similar: white, mild fish, right? Let’s try catching something so that we can give this recipe a try? See the recipe, fishing tackle, and music credit below.

This video was filmed on March 26, 2016.

The bait is a 1/16 ounce painted lead jig head with a 2½ inch orange Shad Grub tail from Action Plastics: http://www.action-plastics.com/store/...

The spinning reel is a Pflueger Trion GX-5. This model is no longer made.

The spinning reel line is SpiderWire, Ultracast, Invisi-Braid in 10 pound test, 2 pound monofilament equivalent.

The spinning rod is a tiny Daiwa SMC401ULFS Spinmatic-C SpinRod (4- Feet, Ultra Light, 1 Piece, 1-4 pound line test recommended). It can be found on Amazon, Fish USA, and other places.

The boat is a Bass Hunter I ordered from Bass Pro Shops about 12 years ago. They no longer sell it. Also, this model is no longer available, but newer models like it are still sold. Check here: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produc...

Fishcakes Recipe
(inspired by the catfish recipe found here: http://www.in-fisherman.com/catfish/t...)

1 pound of bass, bluegill or crappie fillets, diced
2 eggs (the original recipe called for one, but it wasn’t enough)
1 tbsp. lemon juice
⅓ c. onion, chopped very fine
⅓ c. green pepper, chopped very fine
¾ c. Bisquick or other pancake mix (next time I'll use almond flour)
Salt and pepper
One stick of butter for frying in a very large skillet
Enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet

In large bowl, mix together fish, onion, and green pepper, adding desired amounts of salt and pepper.
Mix whisked egg and lemon juice to the fish mixture.
Add Bisquick or other pancake mix.
Form into patties and fry in heated oil, about 2½ minutes on each side.
Makes 12 to 20 catfish cakes.
