Took me a while to get to know this film, but now that I have, I like it!

That moment the first film emerged from the developing tank totally freaked me out! I was not expecting the film base to be so dark. But after trying it first with Bellini Euro HC, and then with Ilford Ilfosol 3, and getting the same dark filmbase both times, I have accepted that it’s supposed to look like that.

I think it’s something to do with the “Kino” label, and the intention to resemble a cine film, a motion picture film, in character. Not sure, does anyone know??

This whole grain thing has definitely got my brain going. Do we like grain? Is grain good? I can’t decide.

There’s no doubt grain gives character, but at the expense of acutance, or sharpness, and contrast. I’ve spent most of my film photography days so far trying to avoid grain, where I can. But maybe I’ve been wrong.
