now I gotta explain why I haven't been doing covers and shit at all around the time I posted my last video I started working on a cover for someone and a while after I started another one, but I made pretty slow progress on them I was kinda busy with school around this time (I don't remember how busy I actually was though), but mainly what was happening was that I was losing motivation to make anything because I just got bored with making covers and chiptune
this lack of motivation was made worse once the quarantine started because at that point I just started playing games every day and because i ended up getting a bit busier with school
I decided to take april off to just do whatever tf i wanted, but mainly during that time i started to learn music theory again because I hadn't done so in a long ass time, started learning how to play the piano, and picked up programming again (I'd seriously been learning programming since the beginning of this year, but I tried it out 3 years ago with barely any success)
i was still wasting time playing games, but at least any time I spent not playing games or doing homework was spent on productive shit recently I've been gaining motivation because of that break month and the start of summer, and I have some kinda big plans for what I want to do by the end of this summer I'm tryna post some originals with my newfound music theory knowledge (what I hope to be able to do is work on one or two originals every week or something like that), experiment with more sound chips, and learn sound production because I've decided that I want to take music a bit more seriously than I've taken it so far so be on the lookout for that shit, hopefully I'll be able to deliver and not disappoint with whatever I make I don't really have a lot to say about this cover, I started it last year, maybe finished a quarter of it, and then abandoned it until today mostly just wanted to finish it to get something out so I don't have an excuse for being lazy with yt

now the reason i posted this so late was because i actually waited for everyone else to get their submissions done (originally there was a deadline and then the deadline was indefinitely postponed) but so far its still incomplete a bit ago taku just told us whoever is done could upload it so yeah lol i aint gonna wait no more this cover is still pretty good there are some things i would probably touch up on if i did it today but i didn't want to change it for consistency's sake

Even with the default win on the count of being the only collab entry, fupaboychris and I felt that there was much to add on to it and have decided to take the past two weeks to make it as awesome as we could without the deadlines and irl stuff which got in the way the first time round. This was my first time working with fupaboychris on a song from start to finish, and it is a refreshing experience to send modules back and forth while developing the song's melody and sound design together. Juggling the saw and triangle leads and seeing where they would end up was an interesting challenge, while experimenting with many other little details which we both crammed into the song this time round- way too many of them for me to point out in fact, so I'll let the song sing for itself. I hope you enjoy our Autumn Jam 2 Collab entry, and it's been an absolute pleasure to work with ya, Chris!" as mark said, I hope you guys enjoyed what we got here, and I also hugely thank mark for making a lot of this collab possible and overall just being a good guy to work withJeroen Tel - After introducing me to Famitracker fork SnevenTracker, I put together a quick draft of the song and he suggested we collab to make a proper hardware cover a reality. Z introduced far better instruments with techniques I had never thought of, which I implemented with help from Alberto's insightful video of the original playing in Cubase. We got pretty far into it, but unfortunately wack time zones and the resulting lack of communication meant work soon ground to a halt- that is, until fupaboychris offered to help out. He managed to single-handedly complete the song in a mere TWO DAYS, for which I am eternally grateful for. Over the three months and 22 iterations that went into working on the cover Z also introduced me to the amazing Chiptune Cafe where I got to meet amazing people to talk to about my passion, and I wanna thank them for helping to keep my interest in trackers alive. Hope you enjoy the cover!" and Dr. Z says this in response to marklincadet's commentary: "Another reason I lost interest in the collab was because I had made a few mistakes that I wasn't sure how to fix, not only did the snares cut out, but the lead had incorrect sliding notes. However Chris is better with trackers then I am, and so managed to fix them, and even found a way to make the final part of the song echo with one channel where as the original song had 3 channels doing the echo, so I'm very happy he finished this, overall this was a 3 person project and I'm very happy about it" i already did a bit of commentary for myself about this project but a little more wont hurt how did i get to helping out with this project? well its simple, one day in the aforementioned CC discord server (probably about 2 or 3 weeks ago), marklincadet mentioned the project i had heard about it previously (probably around the time that the whole famicommodore fiasco was taking place) and at that time i was interested in it because it seemed pretty ambitious so then i asked if i could finish it, as he mentioned it in reference to the slow progress that was being made on it, he said yes, as long as Dr. Z accepts you can imagine what happened afterwards and since this description has been sufficiently long thats all im gonna say about this project download (.snm and .vgm): drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1j7CDlape30d9ojPf1p2sFZJpOwYwhZ9Q go check out Dr. Z: youtube.com/channel/UC3ghvZ_Tzd1Lt922V74XSjg (main) youtube.com/channel/UCOA0M3oHM3oT2FSAYdivPwA (music) twitter.com/DocStarTZ and also marklincadet: twitter.com/marklincadetThe Swamps (NTSC Version) - Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) (LSDJ GB-Z80 Remake)fupaboychris2019-02-10 | today I spent a couple of hours learning the basics of lsdj and I made this shitty little thing to test it out turned out alright I used my replica of the song (which is on my channel it's one of my older videos) extensively to make this because why wouldn't I I'm lazy I used the "triangle" wave (really just an overdrive sine wave) used in super mario bros deluxe in this remake so that it wasn't too similar to the original song and I had to use the noise channel for all the percussion, I made all of the percussion myself with the knowledge I had of the noise "shapes" but I couldn't do the bongos without having to disrupt the bassline so I did away with them the toms at the end sound a little awkward I didnt really know how to replicate them somewhat ok and I also just used the overdrive sine used in the bassline for them and yeah that's about it I might play around some more with lsdj in the future but right now my priorities are set on doing covers with new soundchips my first HuC6280 cover that is going to be uploaded the channel has been long overdue due to me being busy with school, me being straight up lazy, me not working enough on it when I have the time to do it, and not knowing what song to cover (someone informed me on a discord server that a song I had started a cover on with the HuC was already covered on the HuC in a pc engine port of the game the song was from and then I stopped work on it and then after that I couldnt find a good song to cover but dont worry I found one and i started a cover on it today) link to the .sav of the lsdj rom (I used a rom of lsdj version 5.3.6 that I found on archive.org so if you want to load this .sav you should probably download that rom): drive.google.com/folderview?id=1o_W86WiYanm7ObBIhXl70HJ7gzZIHT0A at some point I might update the link to have an .lsdsng instead of the .sav of the rom I'm not sureBig Trouble in the Kitchen (BGM 2) - hi hats and better drum instruments (both the noise and triangle drums) - making the chord instruments in several parts of the song the same as in the original song - making the toms square waves instead of triangle because square toms are always better - fixing the echo in the last part - fixing some of the parts because i messed up on them by using the notes i had in my memory which were wrong and that's pretty much it see i told you i didnt do much but its a filler anyway so its ok this updated version and the old one can be found in this link under the respective folder drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bz97S1tQMiU7nilvfVR0FQUigI3d9X1i now i must go because its late byeMario Bros. Classic Bonus Round - Super Mario Advance (Famitracker 2A03 Cover)fupaboychris2018-08-10 | it occured to me a couple of days ago that my cover of the mario bros classic stage theme 1 got pretty popular at least for me surpassing over 100 views when a comment made on that video brought it to my attention again so then i got the idea of "well why not cover the rest of the mario bros. classic soundtrack" this stems from the fact that the whole soundtrack is made in the same style, so i can literally just use the instruments i made to make the stage theme 1 cover to make the other songs (which i dont even think there are that many other ones to begin with) so not only would it be fast to make while also being easy to get it right, but it can also maybe attract some more views which is something that is good right so yeah, that's my game plan for now it wont take super long for me to finish all of them, i think at the very least it should take maybe 2 weeks for me to do it since im starting school pretty soon and also because of other things i wont talk about here (it's not serious so don't worry) i will also replace the mario bros stage theme 1 ftm on my google drive with an ftm with both of these songs as well as the name of the next song i'm doing, im hoping to have all of these songs on one module and one nsf by the end of it anyways, since i already talked a shit ton about that stuff, i will briefly talk about this song i'm pretty happy on how it turned out, in most parts it sounds much more clearer than the original version which is what i'm aiming for with all these covers some parts don't sound completely faithful to the original imo but i didn't care about them enough to fix them and yeah, thats basically it for this essay again the google drive link where i have most of my stuff will have the link to the ftm with those songs drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bz97S1tQMiU7nilvfVR0FQUigI3d9X1iFuzz Power (JP Mix) - Action 52fupaboychris2018-06-28 | Music: Fuzz Power (JP Mix) Composer: Ed Bogas Playlist: bit.ly/2lIgcY8 Platform: NES Please read your mom's description. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- look it's another one of these siivagunner copycat videos i've been wanting to do one on fuzz power x artificial intelligence bomb for a pretty long time because a long time ago i started a replica of fuzz power to make this but i never finished it until now the reason i even wanted to do it is because i thought the last part of the song kinda sounded like artificial intelligence bomb i'm honestly still pretty surprised on how well it actually worked out anyways hope you liked it or something im going to use the rest of this description box to tell you that because im lazy at this point im just going to put the link to my collection of ftms i've uploaded on google drive in the description because it's easier that way drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bz97S1tQMiU7nilvfVR0FQUigI3d9X1i and yeah that's it Original Song: Fuzz Power - Action 52 Joke: Artificial Intelligence Bomb - narutoButtville - The Descent - Earthworm Jim (2A03+MMC5 Famitracker Cover)fupaboychris2018-06-20 | so I've always really liked this song and I tried covering this song a long time ago (probably around the time after i finished making the hippie battle replica) but i wasn't very good at famitracker at that time because i had just started trying to get good at it i guess and i didn't finish anything at that time the dpcm part was easy but the problem that i had was with the bassline because i wasn't good at placing notes in the correct place or knowing the best speed to put the module at so i failed miserably fast forward to now and since i actually know how to use the damn program at this point i had a breeze doing the bassline and pretty much everything else so yeah there you go this cover is based on the genesis version of the song because it is better imo compared to the snes, another name for this song is Use Your Head this is also the first cover i've done with an expansion chip, i chose mmc5 because in the middle of making this cover (after i did the bassline and drums) was that it didn't sound very full it sounded pretty empty and thats because 2 of the channels of the yamaha chip in this song were helping the bassline with a different guitar sounding instrument so i added the mmc5 chip because i wanted to use an instrument from Mother and it added 2 extra channels which would actually be able to use that instrument I wanted to use and yeah that's basically all i have to say again i'm too lazy to upload the module and nsf to google drive and link them here, once someone asks i will link them here i promise
