Finally Riding Tron Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Thrills & Magic 2023-07-05 | #rollercoasters #tronlightcyclerun #magickingdom Sure it's short but that vibe around the queue and exit is spectacular. I was lucky enough to ride both in the day and night. If you can wait til night falls to experience this roller coaster, definitely do it. The blue glow, the music, the launch are all enhanced by the spectacular lighting package of TRON Lightcycle / Run. A Quick Lap Around Six Flags America | Batwing Was Running! Thrills & Magic 2023-06-15 | #sixflagsamerica #rollercoasters #amusementpark Back at Six Flags America after two years! Not too much has changed except that entire area with Mind Eraser was closed off and looked suspiciously still decorated for Fright Fest. Wild One was running pretty well, just a small amount of bucking! Crowds were low and most of the coasters were running one train. Looked like a good day for families and the younger crowds though! Superman started running a little later in the day and gave a great ride! Batwing to my surprise was also operating and as much as I wanted to go all out with b-roll, the dispatch times were rough and it took me near an hour to get a vertical video, a horizontal video and two photos. Glad I got to ride it though! Jokers Jinx was moving pretty quick that day although it opened a little late as well. Firebird was backed up a bit, nice to see the show elements were turned on. Roar was running two trains so I did a few laps on that. I know a lot of people suggest RMC'ing that one but we'll see. I think some retracking in a few places would go a long way. A Quick Lap Around Kings Dominion | Grizzly Wins Most Improved Award! Thrills & Magic 2023-06-14 | #kingsdominion #amusementpark #rollercoasters Since I was in Virginia for the opening of DarKoaster, I decided to do a lap around Kings Dominion before heading home! I made a bee line for Grizzly to see how the retracking was and wow was it a great success! The new track was so smooth and made for such a good ride! The course still ends with a bunch of older track and yea, that was rough. It immediately was back to bucking and being super jank.Twisted Timbers was running one train so the wait was deceivingly long despite the line length. Took a while to move. I hope to catch Racer 75 racing someday, fingers crossed. Tumbili queue in the hot sun with low throughput didn't sound too appealing, but neither did the Flight of Fear with the indoor queue that easily hits 60-90 minutes. Anaconda has such a nice location but boy was it shaking like the dickens! i305 was very tempting but I knew I would find a minimal waits later in the day. It was crowded due to the music fest and bands that were in attendance and honestly, good for Kings Dominion for seeing crowds before peak summer. Thrills & Magic 2023-06-13 | #artechouse #newyorkcity #chelseamarket #projectionmapping I recently visited Artechouse NYC in Chelsea Market, New York City for their latest installation, a collaboration with NASA and using a whole bunch of their fancy data to create impressive visualizations. The result is a 25 minute show called Beyond the Light, meaning the data is not the visible light spectrum, and probably electromagnetic and gravitational!They always do so well here at Artechouse and I make sure to never miss a new show! Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for something to do! DarKoaster is Open! Heres My Thoughts | Busch Gardens Williamsburg 2023 Thrills & Magic 2023-05-24 | #themepark #rollercoaster #buschgardenswilliamsburg Busch Gardens Williamsburg newest roller coaster has opened and I was able to ride DarKoaster on its official opening day! Sadly I missed meeting King Ludwig and the stiltwalkers who only met for a small part of the morning.Wait times were around 100 minutes all day and 45 minutes towards the end of the day. I ended up waiting about an hour and a half for my ride. Riders per hour is estimated to be around 400 max, which isn't much compared to what I anticipate will be a high demand ride. I expect to see consistent long lines for this one.The story involves some ghost hunters who must've upset King Ludwig's ghost, because it looked super angry when it popped out of the painting! Are we stumbling on this abandoned gear? Part of the crew? Either way, we have to escape on snowmobiles, which is what you'll be straddling on the train. Only 10 seats per train, with two trains at most for this ride.The launches are a lot of fun, though it wasn't as dark as I'd hoped in the show building. It made it easy to see all the elements that were coming up, as good as they were. After going around the course twice, using the two launches twice with a bypass for the station, apparently we had managed to escape? Or were we eaten by Ludwig? Not sure what the conclusion of our adventure to the DarKastle was but it was fun nontheless!I didn't have many expectations going into riding DarKoaster. It was advertised as a family launch coaster and the world's first indoor straddle coaster, and the experience I'd say was exactly as advertised. It fits nicely within the rest of the roller coaster line up at the park, as something the kids can graduate to from Grover's. Something did feel off, and the colder start to the day explains it. Whelp, just cover me in chocolate syrup and call me a silly sundae.It was great to be back at Hersheypark for the first time in half a year! I spent my morning on Candymonium and Skyrush, took a break for b-roll and then made my way up to Great Bear. Definitely rate that high among the B&M inverted coasters. After that it was time to visit another favorite, Stormrunner, which was only running one side. Hopefully they get both going by summer! Fahrenheit seemed to be running less trains and the wait time reflected that. Ended up giving it a pass this time. I walked further down the hill to have some mini donuts and see how the Wildcat's Revenge construction was going. I was surprised by how quickly they've made progress! Last up was a ride on the non-racing Lightning Racer. Hope that one is racing soon!Overall it was a beautiful day and solid first visit of the 2023 to Hersheypark. Finally Riding the Walt Disney World Railroad For the First Time | Magic Kingdom Thrills & Magic 2023-05-10 | #magickingdom #waltdisneyworld #disneyvlog Even though I've been visiting Walt Disney World regularly since 2017, it wasn't until a recent trip in February of 2023 that I was finally able to ride the railroad that goes around the park! It closed some time in 2018 to coincide with the construction of Tron since they needed to redirect and reshape the track's layout through Tomorrowland. For those of you that might be expecting an experience similar to the Disneyland or Tokyo railroad, sadly there aren't any dioramas or sections that go through rides. It felt more like transportation than an experience to itself although there was a touch of that when going through Tomorrowland with the bit of audio from Tron. The Ghosts of Grinchmas Past | Islands of Adventure 2022 Thrills & Magic 2023-05-02 | #islandsofadventure #universalstudios #grinchmas #themepark Ah future Andres, perhaps I put too much faith in you. It was shocking how quickly the Grinch meet and greet time slots at Islands of Adventure were taken those two mornings! Then for some reason the frog choir over at Hogsmeade never happened. Going only two for four of the holiday offerings at Universal Studios Orlando's second park means I guess I have something to look forward to next year. The Wholiday Spectacular was pretty great though. It's all the way over in the old Blue Man Group/Nick Studios area underneath the Hollywood Rip Ride Rokit. Definitely get in line early for that one, 30-45 minutes or so, to get the best seats. The projections on Hogwarts Castle were a pretty great way to end the night, hearing all my favorite Harry Potter tunes (including ghosts!), and some really solid show scenes. The bit of pyro on the end was the cherry on top.I guess next year I will try my luck or maybe get one of those VIP experiences to guarantee my slot with the Grinch. We shall see! Seuss Landing and Hogsmeade were decorated really nicely. I didn't see any holiday touches on the other islands unless you count the entryway.
