Last night I randomly dreamed about Algodoo and remembered my friends and I made this fun compilation video of our Algodoo creations which was unfortunately taken down due to music copyright issues back in the dark ages of YouTube copyright removals (or maybe it was because of a recent bug where a lot of videos were accidentally taken down). Fortunately I found the video reuploaded somewhere on the internet so I'm bringing it back onto YouTube.

Tower of Hanoi is a puzzle where you have some different sized discs stacked on top of each other. rules: 1. there are 3 pegs 2. the discs are all stacked on one peg in the beginning 3. objective: move all the discs to another peg 4. move one disc at a time 5. you can't put a bigger disc on top of a smaller disc
The contraption to the right of the marble dispatcher generates the solution. We have the binary counter on the right, and the memory cells on the left. The vertical level corresponds to the disc (top level is the top disc), and the colors correspond to the pegs (red: left, green: middle, blue: right). The state (color) of a memory cell corresponds to what peg a disc is on, e.g. if the top cell is green, the top disc is on the green peg.
When the binary counter flips a bit from off to on, that triggers the adjacent memory cell to rotate and change state, representing what peg the disc should move next, e.g. the top cell changing from red to green means the top disc will move from the red peg to the green peg. The rotation of the cell triggers the corresponding marbles to dispatch.
The contraption keeps track of where the discs are. The solution to this puzzle is an elaborate way of counting in binary. I've watched this thing go so many times I have an intuition of why it works, but atm I'm not sure how to put into words. The red/green matrix decodes binary into hexademical. The green/blue matrix decodes hexadecimal into 7 segment display code. The pink rods is an array of D latches, serving as a memory buffer for the decoded data. The display itself is directly connected to the memory buffer. I could make it change digits more smoothly by adding transistors in between, but I didn't really feel like it, so deal with the jerky motion :|
The dark-grey circle is the clock, which triggers a series of T flip-flops (counts up in binary) that feeds in the data, and the computation of the data through the long levers connected to transistors.

About shooting from 75 meters above ground and not from ground level: Even though the projectile is shot on the same plane as the ammo, it still gets too much vertical thrust. The stone slab is to get rid of the vertical thrust. I can move the cannon down to ground level and test it so that the amount of vertical thrust is just the right amount, and I bet you I'll still get +100km. But honestly, I really don't want to work on this cannon anymore. I have a life. And most people don't care about these technicalities. It certainly doesn't help that the next update is literally within a week (at the time I released this video), which will break the cannon (see following paragraph).
About my claim that this is "the cannon to end all cannons": It's more than for the sake of having something dramatic to catch your attention. This cannon uses pistons at the highest speed possible, squeezing in as much TNT as possible. I highly doubt anyone will be able to develop a cannon of equal power under a week. The 1.3 update slows down pistons to 75% its original speed, so after the update, no one else will be able to squeeze in as much TNT as me. Unless they downgrade, but that's silly. Or unless someone comes up with a novel compression method. Someone up for this challenge?
How this works: relative to the cyan gear (the one rotating most slowly), the green gear makes 4 cycles per revolution of the cyan gear, the yellow gear: 8 cycles, the orange gear: 12 cycles, the red gear: 16 cycles. Each gear is connected to a piston which oscillate at various amplitudes. The tracer is connected to all the pistons by springs so that the tracer takes on the average position of all the pistons. I noticed that, as the video went through a fade out, it steadily became more distorted and chaotic. With that in mind, I attempted to run a compressor through the video with a low cut off so that the compression corresponds to the kick drum of the music. Unfortunately, it turned too much digital data into chaos, so I manually "compressed" the audio via envelopes. I'm about writing a program that lets you control the amount of glitchiness over a period of time, but I'm gonna have to look into how videos are encoded, first. Maybe throw in a compressor as well. EDIT: So I finally fixed the T flipflop, but now I've discovered that another major culprit is the 1 tick pulse generator, generator 2 tick pulses on occasion. That's what causes the red and orange faces to not function properly, if you attempt to turn them first. I have no idea how to fix this, other than tearing out the pulse generators and moving them to a new location, hoping that it'll work there. Redstone inconsistencies are location dependent.
