Linux Mint users have a new update to check out! The Linux Mint team has released Linux Mint 22.3 HWE ISO images, now powered by the Linux Kernel 6.17 from the Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS hardware enablement stack.
These new Hardware Enablement (HWE) ISOs aim to improve compatibility with newer hardware such as modern laptops, GPUs, Wi-Fi adapters, and other devices. If you experienced issues with the original Linux Mint 22.3 kernel 6.14, this update may solve those problems.
The Linux Mint developers also confirmed that moving forward, updated HWE ISO images will be released whenever a newer kernel becomes available in the Ubuntu package base. This ensures that new installations always get better hardware support without waiting for a major release.
At the same time, the Mint team announced a longer development cycle for future versions, with Linux Mint 23 expected around Christmas 2026, focusing more on stability and bug fixes rather than rushing new features.
