Alexa turned 18 today! realitychangers 2022-12-02 | God, I’m so emotional right now. I don’t know if what I’m writing will do any justice towards what Alexa has brought to my life. I have a bit of anxiety thinking about having a daughter that’s over 18 now and it’s scary but it’s beautiful at the same time. I’m so so lucky to call her father. What a crazy journey we’ve had these past couple years. 😫🔥.I’m not gonna lie I was hella scared when I became a father. So all these thoughts are coming back to me. The thoughts that I had when I was 17-18 years old and wondering what the hell am I going to do with this child that I have now? 🤔🔥.I was already a father at her age y’all. It really trips me out to be completely honest.I think right now I’m just trying to figure out how to be there for them not just emotionally but financially and I think life is just moving in such a unique way for me that it’s shocking to know she’s 18 and new adult things need to be taught to her so she can survive in this crazy world.I just think being an adult in 2022 is different from being an adult 20 years ago.I woke up this morning and did our tradition of singing happy birthday in the morning. I am holding back tears as I write this because I’m very emotional right now and I’m just really proud of her. I feel like sometimes I want to share more in front of her but it’s hard for me to.I don’t know if our dynamics will change now that she’s an adult but I do hear that it does for some parents. I’m excited for her because I know she’s a hell of a hustler and she doesn’t give up .Life, please be kind to her, but let her learn what she needs to learn so she can thrive.I love you dude, happy birthday. .By the way, any advice on having an 18 year old at home please hit me up! 🤣😫

I’m taking my time with him and I don’t expect him to be perfect because he’s still so small.He told me that he would sing with me with one condition, that I “attack” him meaning throw him on the beanbag 🤣.Aaron is really good when he is setting goals. He goes in hyperdrive, especially when the goal is to play Super Mario video games, which he is really really good at 🤣.Whatever works for your kid, use it as a goal, watch him dress up, fix his bed and finish all his homework 🤣🤣🤣.The goal here is to teach him to sing Home by heart at his own pace.I didn’t teach Alexa how to sing home until she was 5 1/2. I haven't been able to sing or pick up my guitar for a while because I was dealing with depression and anxiety. I have also been hesitating and struggling with my own inner demons and I have neglected this way of healing myself. My guitar has always been my go to for therapy. I've never cared about being the best singer or the best guitar performer. I really like how my guitar makes me feel and how it melts the sadness away and reminds me that I have more to offer myself and my family. I'm writing a book right now where I will be sharing some songs that I wrote. I plan to reveal the book so definitely stay tuned for that. A sweet 16 dance for our growing baby Alexa realitychangers 2020-12-29 | Sigh...16 years ago, Alexa was born in one of the most difficult times of our lives. Nancy was 16, I had turned 17, we were undocumented, we didnt have jobs or any way to make money. We were scared of what we had in front of us. A little innocent girl that wanted to live and surprise us all. I don't know how we survived all these years. But here we are, 16 years later. Around this time, Nancy was getting ready to celebrate her birthday on the 2nd of December. That's when Alexa decided to arrive two weeks early, a day before Nancy's birthday 12/1/2004. We weren't able to grant our daughter a real sweet 16 or even a quinceañera. But after her birthday dinner, I asked Nancy "Lets dance with her in the living room. Let's dance with her and give her our own sweet 16 dance?" To you all it's just a simple dance. To us, 16 is the year we became teen parents to one of the coolest daughters out there. It was more than a dance. It was a dance of "Wow, look how far we got in life with barely anything" We love you sooo much dude. We hope you enjoyed your dance. These past couple of months I've had to get extremely creative in order to keep our children stimulated and active despite the lack of opportunity to go outside our home due to COVID. We're on the hammock.Recently, I've gotten back into meditation and I can literally feel it rewiring my brain.I actually made this video as a result of tapping into my inner child and simply enjoying myself with my son. I was just vibing with him, running, jumping, exploring. We took our shoes off and allowed our feet to touch the grass.We need to spend more time with our children y'all. I think that's the key to all this. I know some of you lowkey really appreciated the lockdown because you could finally spend that quality time with the family. At a cost, you know, because so many of us are currently unemployed and have been drastically affected...but damn, it's sooooooo good to finally "see" your loved ones as well. I reconnected with my kids and wife like I haven't in many years. I was missing a bunch of stuff that flew by me naturally from working so much and even though the uncertainty in our home is real, I "see" my family a little better. Just a little because my family is really weird lol.I don't know if that makes any sense to youl but it does to me.Most importantly, the opposite has happened, where people are facing their demons as well. A BIG fact and you know it. You're probably facing them yourself.I also deeply pray for all those stuck in difficult situations at home.
