(1997)REVENANT EVIL2026-03-06 | In this video we explore the earliest known build of Half-Life - Alpha 0.52, dating back to September 1997, more than a year before the game’s release.
By this point, the team at Valve had already built a large portion of the game. The original target release was November 1997, meaning development was approaching what was supposed to be the end.
However, the developers soon realised something important: the game simply wasn’t ready. Much of it would soon be reworked during the massive late 1997 overhaul that ultimately reshaped Half-Life.
In this video I aim to show essentially everything this early build has to offer. We’ll look at the early story, the 3D models - including several scrapped enemies - along with prototype levels and completely unused areas. We’ll examine the build level by level to see how these locations evolved into the final game and what was left behind during development.

Before Resident Evil defined the survival horror genre, it went through a number of revisions. In this video, we’ll explore the game’s early prototype stages and reveal the untold story behind its creation - featuring unfinished level designs, scrapped characters, early character models, and reworked mechanics, all of which helped define one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.

Meltdown (Come Get Some)REVENANT EVIL2024-11-26 | In this video I'll be playing the whole of Duke Nukem 3D's first Episode, L.A. Meltdown. But, I'll be playing entirely in third person mode, because why not? And for a bit of extra challenge, I'll also be playing with no heads up display, auto aim disabled, and I'll go for all secrets too.
I don't think I'm particularly good at the game, but thought this was something fun I could do while working on my next proper video. While this was a bit of a 'challenge', the ultimate aim for this video isn't for any kind of trophy or anything, I just thought it was fun.

☢ Game: Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, played using Eduke32.
☢ This took me probably over a dozen tries to get it right. Originally I was going to do it segmented, but felt like doing it in one sitting was the right thing to do... so I kept resetting until I was able to do it all in one go.
☢ My biggest reset was getting most the way through a level then realising I had forgotten to press F7 (to change viewpoint). Derp.
☢ With no HUD, I tend to use a lot of audio cues, mostly so I know which weapon I have out. But I screw this up many times and end up damaging myself.
☢ I had to restart a few times for secrets not registering - even though I know I got them... So, if you see me trying to jump into a secret, that's why.
☢ Many times I would unknowingly run out of ammo, suddenly switch to the RPG and cause a game over. For similar reasons, I also switched the 'equip pickups' option in the settings to 'never.'
☢ At the end of the boss fight, I try and pick up an Atomic Health, but for some reason Duke seems to go straight through it. I wasn't using any cheats, so I'm not really sure what happened there. If you have any idea, please let me know!
☢ I imagine I will do episode 2 soon. The Unused and Cut Content of Blood (1997)REVENANT EVIL2024-10-28 | Happy Halloween! Blood's an absolute classic as far as I'm concerned. Please note that my recreations aren't meant to be exact - they are only intended as a demonstration of how Bobby Prince may have created the sounds.
I originally had the idea for this while playing Quake. Also inspired by Decino and his DOOM sound effects video. (Watch it if you haven't, it's great!)
