Sega Saturn Emulation: DAYTONA USA seanieb64 2009-03-15 | Watch in high quality - HD coming soon. Rooooooooooling Staaaaaaaaaart! As requested - here's my gameplay video of Daytona USA for the Sega Saturn. This arcade classic of 1994 was ported over to the Saturn in 1995. The Saturn being the wonderful console for arcade machine ports makes no exception in the case of Daytona USA. The controls are a bit stiff and the emulation caused me to have to do several takes before one that was good, I had a lot of control problems, unfortunately. But after some practice I got used to them - no doubt because I am also using the keyboard. A hint for anyone wanting to play this: Use a BIOS and to get sound effects to work you must run this game in the highest compatibility setting in SSF. If your computer can't handle it, you'll be disappointed ... I ran this with SSF in the highest compatibility setting, recorded in FRAPS at it's native resolution. I also enabled "V-sync Wait" so the framerate would remain as constant as possible (60 FPS/60Hz) Additionally I enabled Direct3D and bilinear filtering to take some of the pixelation off - doesn't skip a beat! I'm not the best player in the world, it would have helped if I wasn't using the keyboard and the emulator did screw up a few times on me causing me to go flying off into space... Computer specifications: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, 3.16 GHz 6 GB of RAM ATI Radeon HD 4650 1 GB version An additional note to the fans of this game: I am also looking into Model 2 emulation to emulate the arcade system itself - look out for this in the future... To anyone interested, my Sonic CD gameplay series will be starting back up again really soon: Look out for that!

Well, I built myself an awesome new computer a couple weeks ago, so I've been seeing what it can do... Just because I can, here's a quick overview of Sonic R, to test out Sega Saturn emulation on the machine while being recorded... Next thing I hope to try out is recording the DC again... I realize this game really stresses neither machine (Saturn or the computer itself), so if anyone has any suggestions of fancy Saturn or DC games to try out, I already have some ideas and I could use more... I'm not too good at the game, but like I said it's more for testing purposes than the game, and really, who the hell is good at this game? Specs: SSF 0.10 Alpha PAL mode, with an Euro BIOS European copy of Sonic R Recorded with FRAPS at 50 FPS and 720x480 resolution (fullscreen) Converted with Camtasia to 2000 kbit MP4, same resolution with 128 kbit AAC audio. Machine: Custom built machine (by me) ATI Radeon HD 4650 (1 GB VRAM) Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16 GHz)
