From what we know so far. It involves the sacrifice of several priests of different faiths as well falia flowers who is pregnant with his unborn son who are all tied to the prows of several ships in Euron’s fleet. In part two we determined that the target for his ascension to occur will likely be the Hightower on Battle Isle. And we can assume that fire will likely be a part of this ritual as Azor Ahai is foretold to be reborn amidst smoke and salt and we have Aeron in the Forsaken chapter having a vision of the Longships of the Ironborn adrift and burning on a boiling blood red sea and the sacrifices are tied to the prows of those ships. Azor Ahai is also known as the warrior of Fire and son of fire so it would be a completely missed opportunity if Fire wasn't an integral part of this conjuring. So basically, the components of this ritual we can deduce so far are. A Sacrifice, The Hightower, and Fire. Which isn't a lot to go off at this point, but there are several things left to consider as there are a couple clues to suggest the fire at the top of the Hightower’s beacon will be the fire used for the ritual. But in order to identify these clues we must examine what our author is doing in the Dreamscape. As mentioned in Part II there have been several characters such as Melsandre, Moqoro and Aeron, who are being sent visions of Euron’s upcoming invasion of Oldtown. Much in the same way the Red wedding was broadcast out in visions to several characters before it had ever taken place. Awhile back ASOIAF subreddit Moderator Bookshelf Stud wrote a post examining this phenomena called ripples in the dreamscape, GRRM shows his hand linked in the description box below and suggested that certain heinous and significant events can send shockwaves touching those sensitive to it through dreams and visions. Thousands of years ago, when the first men crossed the land bridge to Westeros, they quickly settled the land, building farms and homesteads and in doing so they had cut down weiroods, which were the trees sacred to the Old Gods. An act which soon brought them into war with an elder race already present on the Continent, the Children of the Forest who worshiped the Old Gods. During this time it is said that the wars went on until the earth ran red with the blood of both races, but eventually a peace was bartered when the First Men and The Children forged a treaty known as the Pact amidst the weirwood groves on an island a sacred to the Old Gods and the Children known as the Gods Eye. It is said faces were carved into all the weirwoods within the Island So that the gods could bear witness to the historic agreement,and the sacred order of the green men was created and entrusted with guardianship over the island to tend to its sacred weirwoods groves and protect the Island. It is believed that the order of Green Men are still living within the isle to this day but the isle is so well protected few have ever successfully traveled there to see for themselves. According to the Worldbook and Old Nan the tales of the green men claim they have green skin and in some versions they may also have antlers like a stag. Though most maesters believe the tales are a conflation of men who wore green clothing and horned headresses. In A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones, The order of Maesters is incredibly ancient, and was an establishment of the First Men thousands of years before the arrival of the Andals. In fact, the order is so ancient that its origins are described as mysterious by the history books. But Most credit its founding to the second son of the first Hightower King known as Uthor of the High Tower. The son in question was Prince Peremore the Twisted. Who is described as “A sickly boy, born with a withered arm and twisted back”. It is said that he yearned for knowledge and to quench his thirst he surrounded himself with wise men, priests, healers, wizards, alchemists, and sorcerers known as "Peremore's pets". And When Peremore died, it is said his brother King Urrigon established the Citadel so that they might continue teaching and learning.In present day Westeros the contemporary maesters are educated men trained at the Citadel of Oldtown who serve as advisors, healers and tutors and have a role within the courts of all of the great lords. Young men from every walk of life come to the Citadel to learn and forge their chain, which is a mark of their order with each link forged in a different metal representing their mastery in a different subject, gold for sums, lead for poisons, black Iron for Ravenry and so on. Once their chain is forged and the Maesters vows are spoken, their chain is donned and is never to be removed. Cressen's fingers went to the chain about his neck, each link forged from a different metal, each symbolizing his mastery of another branch of learning; the maester's collar, mark of his order. As you may already be aware, the customs and traditions and symbols of ancient institutions can derive rather arcane origins. And the tradition of Maesters wearing a chain has always been a curious one. Of course we are given an explanation for why they wear chains... According to the Woldbook, Unicorns have been around since the Dawn Age and were originally ridden by a massively built extinct race called The Hairy Men who populated much of western and central Essos, and it is rumored that some Unicorns might still be found high in the Mountains on the Isle of Ib that is populated by another race of hairy people called the Ibbenese. But aside from those unicorns mentioned in far off Essos, these mythical creatures have also been mentioned several times in Westeros in relation to the island of Skagos in the North. This video may also contain spoilers from TWOW sample chapters.Would you believe it if I told you that there were actually dinosaurs in the Game of Thrones book series ASOIAF. And what if I told you that in the books there are signs that point to dragons sharing a common ancestry with these predatory beasts? Well today I have scoured the books and im bringing all the evidence so be sure to stay until the end for some interesting comments by our author on the subject.So as heretical as dinosaurs in Martin’s world may sound, you may be surprised to learn there are some bipedal predatory lizards located just south of Valyria within the continental land mass of Sothoryos. According to the Worldbook, within Sothoryos there is a creature called “the tattooed lizard”. The worldbook details how these creatures stalk the jungles running down their prey and ripping them apart with long curved claws on their powerful hind legs. This peculiar description has caused much speculation that these predators might actually be a dinosaur. Most likely a type of dromaeosaur or raptor-like creature as raptors are also described as tearing their prey apart with their characteristic curved claws on their powerful hind legs.Of course an even more telling example is mentioned as early as book one of a game of thrones. In an Arya chapter, Syrio mentions that the sealord of braavos has a collection of very curious creatures one of which is described a terrible walking lizard with scythes for claws. Interestingly enough, this creature is described as a terrible lizard and the word dinosaur is actually derived from the greek word dinosauria which literally means terrible lizard. And the name walking lizard not only suggests this creature as being bipedal but the genus of dromaeosaurus or raptor family of dinosaurs name is derived from the Greek word for running lizard and possesses something called a sickle claw and linguistically the words scythe and sickle are often used synonymously. So basically in once sentence the author is telling us in several different ways that the Sealord of Braavos is keeping a dinosaur for a pet… and its probably a raptor.And if you’ve read the books you might have already been aware of this, but what you might not have known is that the author himself has mentioned that there are dinosaurs in his world as confirmation of this came in 2015 when a fan was live tweeting an event where george r martin was speaking and one of those tweets had revealed our author mentioning that dinosaurs did in fact exist in the world of a song of ice and fire so the fandom naturally put two and two together realizing our author was likely referring to the raptor-esque tattooed and walking lizards found in Sothoyros and in the Sealord’s menagerie. ************************************************************************DON’T FORGET TO LIKE & SUBSCRIBE AND THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! His teeth as long as swords, and his jaws large enough to swallow an aurochs whole. Balerion the Black dread was the largest and oldest of the Targaryen Dragons. In fact Balerion was so old, he was one of the original dragons Aenar Targaryen had brought to Dragonstone when they fled the doom around 100 years before Aegon’s conquest and diedof old age at around the age of 200 in 94AC . Which wasn’t that long ago in the timeline of House of the Dragon. For reference The Great Council of 101 where Viserys was determined to succeed Jahaerys as King would occur only 7 years later The only other dragon in the series to come close to Balerion in size is Vhagar. Vhagar is of course the second oldest dragon born in the 52nd year before aegon’s conquest on Dragonstone and is around 180 years old in the present timeline of House of the Dragon. Vhagar is said to be Twice the size of Caraxes, and large enough that one could ride a horse down her gullet. In the books, Vhagar was said to have been almost as big as Balerion himself, Tyrion has difficulty telling their skulls apart in the red keep. A behind the scenes interview with Visual Effects Producer Nikeah Forde reveals House of the Dragon has adapted a more definitive size for Vhagar of 150 meters long or 500feet in length. Which would have made Balerion slightly larger than this, although the fan estimates have ranged anywhere from 150 to three hundred feet from book source material and size comparisons of Balerions skull. But the big question on everyone’s mind is were there dragons larger than Balerion and How large could they possibly get. And to answer that, we need to know how dragons grow in the world. Unlike humans, and most animals who stop growing at around a certain development marker. In the world of House of the Dragon and game of thrones dragons never stop growing, they just continue to get larger as they age so long as he has food and freedom.. Its not a far fetched concept and its something that occurs in several in our own world particularly in several species of snakes amphibians and lizards and its phenomena is known as indeterminate growth. Thee reason why we dont have gargantuan lizards and snakes running around is that their life cycles are short and the majority of their growth occurs as they are maturing and slows down after maturity. Dragons on the other hand live to be much, much longer. According to Daenerys in A dance with dragons “Dragons live longer than men, some for hundreds of years” A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys VIII. And indeed Balerion is proof of that because he reached the age of two hundred before dying of old age. In the books we are never given any further specifics of the upper limits of dragon survival but we were given some interesting details in a behind the scenes interview discussing what happens when an old dragon dies… basically it isnt their age that kills them, its their size. And when we take a closer look at balerion just before his death we see the author hinting at this as well. Balerion had grown to his terminal point to where he could no longer support himself and died shortly thereafter. So essentially, dragons can only grow to a terminal point and then their body will eventually be unable to support itself, that is how a dragon dies of old age, they become too big for this world and pass on to the next, some dragons that might have been a bit larger than Balerion when they died, some might be smaller as variations in nature allow but dragons probably didnt get dramatically larger than that. ************************************************************************DON’T FORGET TO LIKE & SUBSCRIBE AND THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! She cursed the child inside her too, Mushroom tells us, clawing at her swollen belly as Maester Gerardys and her midwife tried to restrain her and shouting, “Monster, monster, get out, get out, GET OUT!” When the babe at last came forth, she proved indeed a monster: a stillborn girl, twisted and malformed, with a hole in her chest where her heart should have been, and a stubby, scaled tail.Fire and Blood goes on to say that Rhaenyra would announce the following day her stillborn daughter had been named Visenya. In his Game of Thrones book series A Song of Ice and Fire Obsidian or dragonglass is one of the few things capable of killing a nearly invulnerable White Walker.Too many years, Tarly, too many hundreds and thousands of years. We lost sight of the true enemy. And now he's here, but we don't know how to fight him. Is dragonglass made by dragons, as the smallfolk like to say?" "The m-maesters think not," Sam stammered. A Storm of Swords - Samwell IIIn both the books and television series, discovering obsidian as a means to kill a White Walker becomes a game changer. In the books, Valyrian Steel has yet to be used against a white walker and dragonglass is still considered the only weapon capable of defeating them. And it wasn’t until season 5 in the show when Valyrian steel was identified as another effective. In both instances the characters at the wall where obsidian is scare were intent on obtaining more in preparation for the oncoming White Walker invasion and its procurement becomes a major plot point..But that’s not all obsidian can do, in the Game of Thrones TV series dragonglass was used by The Children of the Forest to create the Night King and in the books… dragonglass has other properties as well… for example before the Doom, Valyrians used glass candles made of obsidian to communicate telepathically."Call it dragonglass." Well never understood until now, for those watching HBOs new House of the Dragon, you might not have caught it, but it appears episode II may have given us the answer. Do you recall when Viserys was showing Alicent his model of Valyria? I know, I know we were all a bit distracted by a huge toy model of Valyria sitting in the middle of his bedroom, but in that scene we learn a lot about the source of Valyrian magic. "The Valyrian capital was built into a volcano, much like Dragonstone. And the dragonlords, highest of the nobility, lived here, at the volcanic face, 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫." And there it is… did you catch that? So Viserys just let us know that the Valyrian nobility preferred to live near the source of their magic and power... Volcanos. Volcanos are the source of Valyria’s magic and power. And how is obsidian formed? What is obsidian composed of...?Well, it just so happens that obsidian is Volcanic glass, Petrified fire magic, its fire magic is suspended within itself frozen, which is the name the Valyrians had used to refer to obsidian …frozen fire.
