Rules
1. If a Pokemon faints, we can no longer use it. All fainted Pokemon will be sent to a designated box.
2. Players are only allowed to capture the first encounter on each route. If the encounter faints or flees, we cannot capture anything else on that route.
3. If one player has a successful capture on a route but the other player fails to capture anything, the player who did catch a Pokemon is not allowed to use it.
4. All Pokemon must be nicknamed.
5. No duplicate Pokemon are allowed for a single player but they are allowed between players. For example, both players are allowed to capture a Pidgey, but a single player cannot capture two Pidgeys or two members of the Pidgey line.
6. Players must play on Set Mode.
7. No healing in battle. Equipable items such as berries and leftovers are allowed.

I got the Ultimate Digital Edition and made use of the DLC costumes (which provide titles, which in turn provide skill boards) and extra SP. I did not make use of any of the extra levels, gald, stat boosters or discounts.
Since story boss 7 I've decided for most single enemy bosses I'm going only fight with Law while Shionne heals since it's too difficult to see what the boss is doing to react to it with all the spells flying around, and it's too frustrating keeping everyone else alive since they don't safely space themselves from bosses and don't prioritize survival over getting off artes.
The AI is better than previous games but still not good enough and they kind of nerfed the strategy options.

Actually had more issues with the first part of the fight over the second. A lot less openings and harder tells to do dodges against. Thankfully for all the HP he has, he doesn't hit very hard / seems to take increased damage after a certain point. I would just inconsistently get caught in combos for longer than other times, causing me to need to retry the first part a lot.

I like to try NIND (No Items No Death) for 1st playthroughs of Tales. Not always viable, sometimes takes over an hour or hours but it helps me learn and improve and I'd like to see how far I can with it.

Tried testing Kisara as a tank here. She does reduce damage to herself very well, but regardless of her attacking or not, or if others had reduce aggro or not, or if Shionne wasn't even healing, Shionne got targeted quite a lot, so with as many spells flying about as there were, I could not reliably allow others to fight. I gave her a garnet because tidal wave was the one thing she couldn't fully avoided so I used that so she could survive since decrease aggro L wasn't working.
I targeted the earth one simply because I weaved a wind arte into my combo. I only used Rinwell's boost attack when 2 were casting at the same time because that's the only time she would get it back instantly.

Here I decided to use naturally gained stat boosters. I'm level 28 for a level 40 recommended encounter. It wasn't difficult, just takes longer, so I decided to shorten it. Also decided that since for most bosses going forward, probably just going to solo them with Law. They've been averaging about 10 minutes a run so...

I attempted to manipulate this boss with aggro and let the other party members fight but somehow (and almost always only) Rinwell is just too close to the boss even with my strategy options. Also it was someone's bright idea to teleport your entire party be in boss range after using a mystic arte....
This is why I switched strategy after so they would auto dodge, and went into solo mode after the 1st half because it became a lot less reliable to keep others alive.

Dohalim hits way too hard and has attacks I can't protect the AI from. So rather than struggle to find a way to do that, I just made them protect themselves by having them do nothing. It made the fight a lot easier and a lot less frustrating. In addition to that, it made me see that his attacks are easily dodged and see a clear pattern to his attacks. I'm still not skilled enough / practiced enough to do it without any mistakes, but my restrictions at the moment are just not using items and not dying, and that was accomplished. It's a fight that I actually feel pretty proud of unlike most of the fights where it just feels like a mess and that I'm not really contributing anything.
Any boss with multiple enemies I likely won't solo, but bosses that are alone, I might find it easier to solo them than use the whole party. The fight itself will take longer, but my time attempting it might actually be shorter for it.

She was annoying to fight with all the special effects flying around. Hard to see what to expect, and difficult to try and combat her counter and protect the AI from it. General issue with this game's combat but just gets increasingly worse as it goes on and things hit harder.

Kind of a break from difficult bosses. Still kind of upsetting that without enough resistance, you can't really pull of any real combos on bosses. I don't know if you can stagger bosses with enough penetration. Most still have too high of a resistance to see. But I noticed that Boss 4 occasionally did stagger outside of boost attacks, so maybe there is hope, especially since his resistance was through the roof.

And just as I thought the last boss was pushing my limits, things only got worse here. I made use of the rest of the extra sp from the packs and farmed even more still to see what I can do to better deal with the Ganabelt clones. Ganabelt has absurd resistance so the only thing I could figure out to make things easier was getting skills that let me use boost attacks more frequently so that was the only sure way to stagger the clones. Also picked up counter attack skills to increase damage when enemies weren't staggered. It was honestly seeming like even all that wouldn't be enough but I managed to pull through. Thankfully the Alexandrite (50% light resistance) pulled through because there was no way in my current state I could stop Ganabelt from pulling off his mystic arte, and I had to tank it multiple times. I again also barely pulled through with enough CP.
I got the Ultimate Digital Edition and made use of the DLC costumes (which provide titles, which in turn provide skill boards) and extra SP. I did not make use of any of the extra levels, gald, stat boosters or discounts.

This is only the 3rd boss and it's already pushing the limits. I used some of the extra SP to get the attack boost for Alphen when full from his DLC costume. In addition to that, I used the DLC weapons everyone gets, which is just a little stronger than what we're currently able to make at this point. With all that, I barely finished the boss with the amount of CP available to me.
