Cotton Lawn Becomes a Shirt and Pyjamas

I bought 5 metres of this beautiful cotton lawn back in August 2025 and I had plans to make a set of pyjamas, but after cutting out my pyjama fabric I had plenty left to make my favourite shirt.

This Kennedy Hoodie Pattern Finally Works

This week has been quite a journey, as my daughter finally moved into her new house after a 10-month process!

The Surprising Truth About Slowing Down

Stash Stitcher 2025-10-01 | This one skill, slowing down, prepares me in making better choices and enjoying the process of making a fabulous blouse without the stress.

I decided I wanted to take part in the #sewphoenixseptember25 sewing challenge hosted by Sam, Rachel and Katherine (their YT channels are listed below).

The challenge was to make something you'd made before and to remake it with newly learnt skills.

My 'second chance' make is the Simplicity blouse S9467. I originally made this back in May 2023 and though I considered myself an experienced sewist, I was in a rush to churn out another garment. So making this blouse a second time, I took my time; read the instructions, placed the pattern pieces on the fabric to get a better look and showcase the fabric. Also my newly learnt skill this year is pattern matching, so I pattern matched the fabric and I love it. The fabric flows so much better than the green one as I have two large white flowers on both front bodice pieces which drawn the eye.

I still wear my green blouse, even though one of the cuff's buttonholes have been sewn on the wrong side! No one notices but me. I love wearing it and was keen to try and make another one, but this challenge gave me the opportunity to look back and give it a second chance.

3 Quilts in Progress You Have to See!

Stash Stitcher 2025-09-24 | In this week's video I share my 3 quilts: I'm a fan of Tula Pink fabrics and the Dream Catcher quilt showcases her fabrics beautifully. After two years of collecting the majority of the fabrics needed for this quilt I got to work. This is a slow-make quilt, an EPP (English Paper Piecing) and I'm having lots of fun slowly bringing this quilt to life.

The next slow EPP quilt I'm progressing with is the Raindrops Are Falling on My Head quilt by Millefiori (Book 4). Yet again it's made from Tula Pink fabrics and I'm pulling these fabrics out of my huge fabric scraps box. I want to work more on this and move forward with it as my progress has stalled of late and I want to carry on with this bright and cheerful quilt.

Sewing a FREE Summer Blouse from Maison Fauve | Beginner Friendly

Stash Stitcher 2025-08-13 | Today, we are diving into the Tilda Blouse by Maison Fauve. It's a hugely popular pattern, and a big reason for that is that it's completely free to download from their website.

Its delicate pleated details—or pintucks—at the neckline and on the sleeves are a subtle detail with a flared silhouette. I decided to keep it summery by sewing the short-sleeved version.

I chose this beautiful navy-blue gauze for my blouse. The pattern suggests light-to-medium weight fabrics with plenty of drape, like viscose, cotton, or silk—anything that will really show off the flared cut and those lovely pleats. This light-weight gauze just felt right. It’s fluid and a great addition to my wardrobe.

The Brutally Honest Fit Review
I got the sizing wrong, but it’s still a wearable garment. Apart from being too big everything else about it is spot on. The delicate pleated sleeves and front and the flared bodice.

FABULOUS Hexie Tote Bag | Big, Bold and Boxy
