Mad with power and more than a little drunk to boot, I am proud to share with you that we have taken the broadcast tower and studio. The propaganda machine of Vegasia’s most powerful is now in the hands of its prettiest band of freedom fighters: The Resistance. You already know who we are, you just don’t know it yet.Let’s get into it, kids. But first, a eulogy.Vegasia. You were a cathedral to what we never were masquerading as something we’ll never be, rotting like the zed you liked to boast “never came.” You never stopped to think that maybe you weren’t spared by the fall so much as already damned. Ignored and forgotten by an apocalyptic wave of rads and plagues, bombs, guns, knives, rage, avarice, and fear; the filth and grime of the desert leached into souls long rotten, confusing the sense of warmth from a narcotic sun hiding you from your own desolate sadness. No wonder the disciples of the 33 felt so cozy here. The fall didn’t miss Vegasia. The rest of the world caught up is all. Now, though, this is something new. Yesterday, Vegasia went from an “is” to a “was” and a “shouldn’t” to an “isn’t.” What happened was bananas even by Vegasia standards. Dawn broke with hooves pounding to this undanceable beat. Final Knight DJs, brothers of the chrome but no brothers of mine mind you, laughed at vengeance riding to town on horseback. What they got was something else. You ever seen an Unstable ride a velocigecko? What about 200 of them? Bandages and belts whipping in the wind with that blue light pulsing with aggressive menace between the cracks? So bright it stood stark against a desert dawn? You ever seen an eighteen wheeler loaded to at least annoy a moving mountain get swarmed and taken down by some sort of Darwin-mutated attack corn? Yeah, I said it. Corn, with legs and eyes. With teeth instead of kernels, it was an oblong bite surface looking for a meal and it found it on anything that moved. I thought I’d seen it all until this morning. It was madness. Blood slicked the strip of Vegas City by noon, and an eerie calm settled on the day when our dragoons became infiltrators, moving into the catacombs of the city.I’m still wrapping my head around it. My story went dark when my division took WMDK.But this morning, when the sun rose on the Black Pyramid, stronghold of the 33, there were corpses chained to its surface. This is grimly common around here. FKs do dark dedications like that on the reg. This was different, though. The corpses were the three most prominent slaver family omni-archs (Legend “sib-bone” Sibley, Hollace Lemont II, and Candace McCallister) moaned as freshly returned, mindless zed baking under that hateful Vegasian sun. They were grisly punctuation on a declaration of victory over oppression: the monument to desecration, the pyramid’s entire Eastern exposure had been vandalized. “We Built This City” in huge, blue letters popped, fresh and gleaming like new hope. It was a message to the rest of the wastes: What happened in Vegasia will not stay in Vegasia. If you hold slaves, we’re coming for you, no matter who you are, no matter where you are, and we’re not going to stop until you yield and pay for what you’ve done or we squeeze every drop of infection out of you. We are The Resistance, we’re lead by the Unstable, and we’re on our way.
