The documentary film Hi-Fi Seoul by Kompakt Record Bar in support of Carhartt WIP, spotlights Sewoon Plaza, the historic hub of Korea’s audio market. It follows an obsessive pursuit of sound, the revival of vinyl pressing plants by a new generation, and how vinyl is now consumed as an “experience.” Through the lens of Kompakt Record Bar, the film captures this convergence of past and future across audio, records, and DJ culture. With audio artisans at Sewoon Plaza with over 40 years of expertise and music director Soulscape in the film, the project brings together a diverse cast of voices and gives Hi-Fi Seoul both depth and character.
About Kompakt Record Bar
Founded in 2018 in Apgujeong, Kompakt Record Bar is a local bar where a hi-fi sound system and a long-collected selection of vinyl records are played alongside reasonably priced drinks. Built on a foundation of affection and respect for vinyl culture and the local scene, it has grown into a brand that also offers apparel, accessories, and lifestyle products. Today, it operates a total of four retail spaces: two bars and a coffee shop in Sinsa, as well as a third bar located in Seongsu.
