Another night with the vents going off like a blowtorch! Even the north kicked into high flame mode overnight. It's all pretty normal—just the ignition of volcanic gases escaping the vent—but it sure puts on a show.
The tilt, however, is playing with our heads again. The UWD recorded that famous "Puna pothole" in the road, and our timeline for the big lava fountains just got booted back to May 5th.
The Facts:
Vents: Blowtorch flames overnight from both vents as gases ignite.
Seismic: Tremor is slowly increasing with more frequent pulses. 19 small earthquakes recorded in the past day (all ≤ 2.0M) inside Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
Tilt: UWD is recording steady deflation right now, but we've seen a total of 7.75 microradians of inflationary tilt since the end of Episode 45.
Episode 46 Window: Data suggests fountaining between Tuesday, May 5 and Saturday, May 9.
