Why I Was Wrong About the XTool Wonder Press Chris Piascik 2026-08-25 | xTool sent me their new WonderPress to review, and honestly I almost said no. I figured it was just a fancy heat press and that wasn't enough for a video. Turns out it's a lot more. It goes from a heat press to a vacuum former to a craft oven in seconds. Beat Creative Block AND Learn Animation With One Dumb Drawing Chris Piascik 2026-08-18 | I was dealing with some creative block so instead of forcing it, I gave myself one dumb rule: draw a weird face, then just react to it. No planning ahead, no going back to fix earlier drawings. Each new version could only respond to the one before it.What started as a weird porcupine-Sonic hybrid slowly turned into a monkey, then a goat, then a full-on skeleton, then a fish guy, and eventually morphed all the way back to the original face creating a trippy little frame-by-frame animation completely by accident.This is sort of how I taught myself frame-by-frame animation in the first place. No tutorials, no animation theory — just changing one drawing a little bit at a time and seeing where it goes. It's a great way to get unstuck creatively AND pick up animation basics accidentally.I did this in Adobe Fresco using the frame-by-frame tool with onion skinning, but you can do the exact same exercise in Procreate, Photoshop, or even on paper with a lightbox or tracing paper flip-book style. High Tech Machine, Handmade Chaos (xTool M2) Chris Piascik 2026-06-30 | I'm deep in making mode, prepping for my table at the ICON Illustration Conference Roadshow. I experimented w/ my xTool M2 laser/inkjet machine to make a bunch of new stuff. I went to school for graphic design, got a job I loved and then made one rule: draw something every day and post it online.What happened next wasn't a strategy. It was a series of accidents. Bike drawings led to cycling industry clients. Weird monster patterns led to Nickelodeon. Loopy animated GIFs led to Cartoon Network. None of it was planned.
