London Piano Festival co-director Katya Apekisheva played the famous Danzas argentinas, Op. 2, in the 2018 edition of the festival. It’s one of Ginastera’s early gems, mixing folkloristic elements with complex harmonies over a virtuosic texture. Here is the languid second part, Danza de la moza donosa (‘Dance of the Graceful Maiden’). In this year’s festival, Apekisheva will be presenting ‘The Young Ludwig’, focusing on Beethoven’s early works.
