Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS) are inflation-linked securities issued by the US Government whose principal value is adjusted periodically in accordance with the rise and fall in the inflation rate. Thus, the dividend amount payable is also impacted by variations in the inflation rate, as it is based upon the principal value of the bond. It may fluctuate up or down. Repayment at maturity is guaranteed by the US Government and may be adjusted for inflation to become the greater of the original face amount at issuance or that face amount plus an adjustment for inflation. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities are guaranteed by the US Government, but inflation-protected bond funds do not provide such a guarantee.

Investing in alternative investments is speculative, not suitable for all clients, and generally intended for experienced and sophisticated investors who are willing and able to bear the high economic risks of the investment. Investors should obtain and carefully read the related prospectus or offering memorandum, which will contain the information needed to help evaluate the potential investment and provide important disclosures regarding risks, fees and expenses.
Alternative investments, including hedge funds and funds that invest in alternative investments, often employ leveraging and other speculative practices that increase an investor’s risk of loss to include complete loss of investment, often charge high fees, and can be highly illiquid and volatile. Alternative investments may lack diversification, involve complex tax structures and have delays in reporting important tax information. Alternative investments that are closed end funds registered under 1933 or 1940 act would be subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds. Other registered and unregistered funds are not subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds.

Alternative investments are speculative and involve a high degree of risk. Investors may lose all or a substantial portion of their investment. Alternative investments cover a wide array of strategies, including real estate, private equity, private credit, and hedge funds. Risks will vary based on each unique strategy and can include investments in highly illiquid assets or securities, use of leverage, higher fees, lower transparency, tax risks, and limited ability to redeem or limited transferability.
Alternative investments may have limited or no liquidity, redemptions or repurchases may not be permitted and no public market may exist to make full or partial liquidations. An investor’s capital may potentially be locked for seven or more years. Certain strategies can involve the use of leverage which can enhance returns but also increase losses. Alternative investments are valued less frequently, may be speculative in nature, and may not conform to any particular valuation standard. As a result, advisory fees associated with alternative investments will reflect these valuations compared to more readily available valuations on publicly traded securities.
Many alternative investments are exempt from registration requirements that apply to public securities. As a result, alternative investments may have greater investment flexibility but are less transparent given they do not have to adhere to the ...

They explore the complexities of market reactions to Fed easing, the long-term outlook for the dollar, and the importance of institutional integrity in maintaining the dollar's status as a reserve currency.

You'll hear the story of the Kon-Tiki expedition—a harrowing journey across the Pacific Ocean led by Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl. A journey made by a small band of adventurers who set out to understand ancient human migration. They were young. Most were inexperienced. But they had enthusiasm, a range of talents and personalities, camaraderie, and a clear and vivid goal. You'll hear from Liv Hukset Wang from the Kon-Tiki Museum (https://www.kon-tiki.no/) in Oslo, who works with Heyerdahl's grandchildren to keep his legacy alive.
Then, Katy speaks with University College London professor Colin Fisher (mgmt.ucl.ac.uk/people/colinfisher) about his new book on team synergy. You'll hear his recipe for building teams that excel and his tips for avoiding the pitfalls of social loafing.

In this episode of Choiceology with Katy Milkman (katymilkman.com) , we explore why we tend to blow our own missteps out of proportion.
We go behind the scenes of some of the most consequential speeches of World War II. Speeches given by a man who was consumed with fear about how his stutter would be received by the public. Author and historian Adrian Phillips (adrianphillips.co.uk) gives us new insights about King George VI's struggles with his diction and the effect his addresses had on the people of Great Britain during the darkest days of the war.
We also hear from Seth Tichenor (https://www.duq.edu/faculty-and-staff/seth-tichenor.php) , an assistant professor and program director at the Duquesne University Stuttering Clinic (https://www.duq.edu/academics/colleges-and-schools/health-sciences/academic-programs/speech-language-pathology/speech-language-hearing-clinic/stuttering-clinic.php) , who helps us understand what it's like to navigate a public role with a stutter.
Finally, Katy speaks with Cornell psychologist Tom Gilovich (https://psychology.cornell.edu/thomas-d-gilovich) about how he and his fellow researchers demonstrated that—more often than not—our mistakes and foibles barely register with those around us.

In this episode of Choiceology with Katy Milkman (http://www.katherinemilkman.com) , we consider the consequences of missing out on the true source of information when we're exposed to that information through multiple channels.
Joe Schwarcz (mcgill.ca/oss/joe-schwarcz-phd-cm-director) tells the story of two-time Nobel laureate Linus Pauling (nature.com/scitable/topicpage/linus-pauling-a-lifetime-of-science-6539763) and his obsession with the healing powers of vitamin C. Pauling was a venerated and accomplished chemist, so when he wrote the book Vitamin C and the Common Cold (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C_and_the_Common_Cold_(book)) , the world took note. His claims about the health benefits of vitamin C were echoed innumerable times by health writers and influential figures in books and magazines and TV commercials. The problem was, there was little evidence to support those claims.
