I had a wonderful time filming these birds in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, a great place to view wildlife. Which bird sound was your favorite?

I filmed the Catbirds in Florida and Kentucky, the Brown Thrashers in Kentucky, Curve-billed Thrashers in Arizona, and the Mockingbirds in Florida and Kentucky.

Made a Pollinator Garden! #pollinators #pollinatorgarden

Navarres Wild Shots 2026-05-10 | I just installed this Pollinator Garden with 12 native species and I'm very excited to see them bloom! Pollinator Patches are very helpful for the environment because there is a lack of native species to feed the wildlife. Historically, humans have made a habit of removing native plants to replace them with exotic species that do nothing for the environment. That's why we lost a huge percentage of US birds and insects in only a few decades. But as soon as the exotic plants are replaced with the correct species, the hummingbirds, bees and butterflies will return and fill your garden with color and beauty. Hopefully we can see the lightning bugs again. I grew up in a world where I could see fireflies every evening, but now I'm lucky to see just one. Hopefully that changes soon!

This results in a large concentration of waterfowl at larger rivers and lakes. It's sad they have to endure this weather, but also cool to see so many bird species at unusual spots. It's not as scary as the Internet makes it seem. I saw zero snakes and exactly one spider while visiting. Meanwhile, the US has bears, mountain lions, moose, wolves, black widow spiders, rattlesnakes and bison that we seem to overlook (all of which I've seen in the wild).
One thing I really appreciated about Tasmania was how much they take care of the environment. There was no litter on the trails, everyone packed all of their garbage out. They have measures to prevent exotic soil or bacteria from entering their parks. And the people there seemed to really appreciate their wildlife and land.
One day, I hope to return to Australia for a longer period of time to find other Fairywren species and other crazy birds 🦜

Navarres Wild Shots 2026-01-01 | My Top 15 Wildlife Encounters of 2025 🦉🦦 Which animal was your favorite? This year brought me to Tasmania, Australia, which has been on my bucket list for a while. I also returned to a couple favorite spots including the Everglades and southern Arizona (Saguaro National Park, Madera Canyon).
With such a diversity of wildlife and ecosystems it's so hard to choose a favorite moment. They're all special in their own ways and I'm thankful to have the opportunity to travel to these places, especially Tasmania! Seeing Superb Fairywrens, plethora of Marsupials and their native Robins was such a treat, especially since I got to backpack with my good friends in the Cradle Mountains and Maria Island. Unforgettable times. I'm not sure what 2026 will bring, but I have a feeling it's going to be a big year. I will continue to try my hardest to bring you the best possible videos through my camera and film as many singing birds as possible. Happy New Year! 🦜🎉

Birds have a high heart rate and fast metabolism which generates a decent amount of heat, and they retain that heat with their down feathers and water-resistant contour feathers. Their counter-current heat exchange system also helps keep their blood from chilling them.

In this video you can see a few White-crowned Sparrows singing for a minute straight and doing their chip calls. White-crowned Sparrows are similar to White-throated Sparrows. They both start out with the same note when they sing, but the White-crowned Sparrow trails off with a different melody than the White-throated Sparrow, which has a more consistent tone. 175 Bird Sounds of the United States

Navarres Wild Shots 2025-11-03 | Hear the sounds of 175 US bird species I filmed over the last 3 and a half years! In this video you can hear multiple songs and calls from North American birds, including their regional dialects. This video is like a "Visual Merlin app." Males and females typically make different sounds, and juvenile versions of the species will also sound different, so I included multiple vocalizations for certain bird species. Many of these species were filmed during my vanlife/campervan adventures across the United States, which is why the recording location is often inside of National Park boundaries. I used a RODE VideoMic Pro+ to record the songs and calls of these birds on my Canon camera setup. I started out with a Canon R6 and 600mm F/11 lens, then replaced my R6 with an R7. A year later I sold that setup and bought my current gear, which is Canon R5 C and RF 100-500mm F/4.5-7.1 lens. So these clips were filmed on a mixture of cameras and lenses, but all sounds were recorded though my Rode VideoMic Pro+
